Booster Gold Pilot In The Making

DC Comics character Booster Gold is heading to a new medium. SyFy has ordered a pilot based on the character with Fringe writer Andrew Kreisberg writing the first episode according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Booster Gold had previously appeared in the final season of Smallville where he was played by Eric Martsolf, but there is no word yet on whether or not this new series will have any connection to his feature is the Smallville universe.

Booster Gold was created in 1986 by Dan Jurgens. He was the superhero identity of Michael Jon Carter who lived in the 25th century. No story would be complete without a little time travel in which our hero travels to the present day DC Universe. At first he makes use of his futuristic technology by promoting himself and signing endorsement deals rather than stop crime and save the world. He isn’t your typical superhero. I personally think he was a bit before his time, with his manly self-promoting swagger. He ends up saving people while maintaining his (not so) modest self image.

Do you think SyFy is just trying to cash in on the uber-lucrative world of superhero movies or do you think this will actually be a good series? Personally, Booster Gold is not on the top of my list of superheroes anyway, but I will watch the pilot either way.
