New TV Spot for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Focuses on Lisbeth Salander

We’re about a month away from David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo arriving in theaters to stomp out any and all Christmas spirit you might have, but there hasn’t been a whole lot of attention giving to Rooney Mara’s Lisbeth Salander… until now.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo isn’t what I consider a Christmas film but the story does come loaded with some unforgettable characters. Daniel Craig’s Mikael Blomkvist is the disgraced journalist given the task of investigating the disappearance of a woman decades earlier but it’s Mikael’s research assistant, Lisbeth Salander, that makes the movie come to life. Without the Goth cyber-hacker, we’d have just another murder mystery but the mysterious Lisbeth is an enigma even though she’s a main character, and that automatically makes the audience curious about her.

The newest TV promo for the Fincher adaptation, from CinemaBlend, focuses on our title character, allowing us to see various aspects of her. By the end of the clip, we don’t really know much more about Lisbeth, but that’s okay because mystery is as much a part of her as her dark clothing and her hacking skills are and we’re really not meant to know that much about her. At least, not yet. What we do learn, though, is that pain isn’t much of an issue when she shrugs it off while getting a tattoo, she doesn’t have a problem with throwing punches, and it’s no big deal to deliver a veiled threat to Daniel Craig with a completely flat expression and a tone that’s completely devoid of any fear.
