HBO’s award winning show Game of Thrones is coming back for a new season and with that, a new teaser has been released entitled, “The Cold Winds are Rising”!

The highly acclaimed show is based on the book series  “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin. The show is set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros where Summers and Winters can last lifetimes. It follows the struggles between noble families for control of the Iron Throne as well as outside threats from other regions.

The show it self was so highly anticipated that it was announced that it had been picked up for a second season a mere two days after its first season premiere.

Game Of Thrones also won many awards for its first season. During the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, it was announced that Game of Thrones was nominated for 13 categories, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Peter Dinklage (which he ended up winning). The series also won an Emmy for Outstanding Main Title Design the weekend before, at the Academy’s non-televised technical Emmy awards presentation.

Similarly to the first season, the second will consist of ten episodes and it slated to begin airing in April 2012.
