The Flowers of War is a new film adaptation of Geling Yan’s historical novel “13 Flowers of Nanjing.” The film is going to be directed by Zhang Yimou.
The story is a historical fiction but is inspired by true events that happened during the Sino-Japanese War; a dark part of Chinese history. The film is set in 1937 in Nanjing, China during the war. The group of escapees spend the movie risking their lives as they struggle for survival.
For a story set in war ravaged China, this is a surprising tale of love and sacrifice.
