Update for Film, Cloud Atlas

The Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer recently wrapped filming for their new project, Cloud Atlas. And with that, the production team has released a behind-the-scenes photo. The production company, Cloud Atlas Productions, released this behind-the-scenes photo via Empire and it  features the three filmmakers as well as executive producer Uwe Schott, author David Mitchell, executive producer Philip Lee, producer Stefan Arndt and producer Grant Hill.

The film will be starring Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Ben Whishaw, Susan Sarandon, Jim Broadbent, Bae Doona and James D’Arcy.

Cloud Atlas is based on the third novel by David Mitchell and was released in 2004. And the official description is as follows:

A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan’s California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified “dinery server” on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilisation — the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other’s echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changed in ways great and small.

In his captivating third novel, David Mitchell erases the boundaries of language, genre and time to offer a meditation on humanity’s dangerous will to power, and where it may lead us.

This movie includes one of my favorite types of story telling elements: the multiple interwoven storyline approach. It is one of my favorite techniques for films so that along with the ensemble cast tells me to give it a chance.
