NBC’s Dracula Presents Animated Original Series & New Promo

Dracula

NBC is putting out all the stops to generate buzz about its upcoming television series, “Dracula.” The network released a new TV spot as well as a new “Dracula Rising” animated series on YouTube to act as an “origin tale” about the titular character.

“Dracula” premieres on October 25th and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers. It’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night – useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: he hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

Part one of the animated series, “Dracula Rising,” takes you back to the 15th century to discover the origins of the iconic Vlad Tepes, also known as Dracula.

The character of Dracula first appeared in the 1897 Gothic horror novel by Irish author Bram Stoker. The novel tells the story of Dracula’s attempt to move from Transylvania to England, and the battle between Dracula and a small group of men and women led by Professor Abraham Van Helsing. Although Stoker did not invent the vampire, he defined its modern form, and the novel has spawned numerous theatrical, film and television interpretations.
