Next Batman: Arkham Game May be Revealed Soon

batman-logo

According to a report from Kotaku, Gamestop has sent out a new shipment of Batman banners that may or may not be the advertisements for a “Batman: Arkham City” follow-up game. The banners are pictured above and are said to be going up in stores next week which just happens to be around the time that “Arkham Asylum” and “Arkham City” developer Rocksteady have reportedly marked as the window to announce their next project.

Rocksteady took the gaming world by storm in 2009 with the first in the franchise, Batman: Arkham Asylum, which saw its sequel, Batman: Arkham City, hit stores just two years later. The latest entry, Batman: Arkham Origins, developed instead by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, served as a prequel to the series instead of exploring the story threads left open at the end of “Arkham City.” So far the games remain one of the most loved franchise currently in stores.

The news remains unconfirmed by Rocksteady, Warner Bros., and GameStop. I guess we will not find out what the banners represent until next week.

If there is a new game on the horizon, what would you like to see in the next installment? Which villains do you think the Dark Knight should face next?

LEGO: The Hobbit Release Date Announced

lego1

We finally have a release for the upcoming LEGO game, “LEGO: The Hobbit.” Announced by Warner Bros, the game will release on April 11th on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS, Vita, PC and Mac.

“LEGO: The Hobbit” will feature a storyline that correlates with those depicted in the first two movies in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy.

From the makers of the immensely popular LEGO® The Lord of the Rings, comes LEGO The Hobbit, inspired by the first two films in The Hobbit Trilogy: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the upcoming The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) as well as the collection of LEGO The Hobbit constructions sets. The interactive game of LEGO The Hobbit allows gamers to play along their favorite scenes from the films and follows the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins as he is recruited by the Wizard Gandalf to aid Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves. Bilbo leaves the comforts of the Shire on a journey through Middle-earth to help the Dwarves reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain. Along the way, he is introduced to ravenous Trolls, dangerous Orcs and, of course, Gollum and his precious Ring. Players will utilize and combine the Dwarves’ unique abilities – often with hilarious results – to solve the most diverse Quests of any LEGO videogame to date.

Game Features:

  • Explore Middle-earth and visit key locations from the films, including Bag End, and trek through the treacherous High Pass over The Misty Mountains, or discover the depths of Goblin Town, Mirkwood and Rivendell.
  • Partake in Treasure Quests, mine for gems, discover loot from enemies, and craft powerful magical items or build immense new LEGO structures.
  • Play as your favorite characters from The Hobbit films, including Bilbo, Gandalf, and the Dwarves: Thorin, Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin, Dwalin, Balin Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori and Ori. Each has his own special – and quite hilarious – ability. For example, Bombur can be used as a trampoline that enables his companions “belly-bounce” out of danger!
  • Collect, combine and forge new items in the Blacksmith Shop using Mithril, the most precious metal in Middle-earth.
  • Triumph in a game of riddles and learn to wield the power of The One Ring.
  • Play with family and friends with easy access drop-in, drop-out gameplay option. (Available on console only.)
  • Play with family and friends using wireless play. (3DS and Playstation Vita only and two copies of the game required.)

The game will likely be similar to the other “LEGO: Lord of the Rings” game that was released last year.

Jennifer Aniston Eyes Headlining Role in New Line’s “Mean Moms”

1400083001.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_

According to a recent report from TheWrap, Jennifer Aniston is looking to play the lead role in the upcoming film, Mean Moms from New Line Cinema. The film is an adaptation of Rosalind Wiseman’s nonfiction book “Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads,” a followup to her 2002 book “Queen Bees and Wannabees.” That book also served as the source material for the 2004 comedy Mean Girls.

Mean Moms will be directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller. It is being produced by Offspring Entertainment’s Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman.

Published in 2007, “Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads” is officially described as follows:

What happens to Queen Bees and Wannabes when they grow up?

Even the most well-adjusted moms and dads can experience peer pressure and conflicts with other adults that make them act like they’re back in seventh grade. In “Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads,” Rosalind Wiseman gives us the tools to handle difficult situations involving teachers and other parents with grace.

“Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads” is filled with the kind of true stories that made Wiseman’s New York Times bestselling book Queen Bees & Wannabes impossible to put down. There are tales of hardworking parents with whom any of us can identify, along with tales of outrageously bad parents—the kind we all have to reckon with. For instance, what do you do when parents donate a large sum of money to a school and their child is promptly transferred into the honors program–while your son with better grades doesn’t make the cut? What about the mother who helps her daughter compose poison-pen e-mails to yours? And what do you say to the parent-coach who screams at your child when the team is losing? Wiseman offers practical advice on avoiding the most common parenting “land mines” and useful scripts to help you navigate difficult but necessary conversations.

FremantleMedia Takes Neil Gaiman’s American Gods

American Gods

The small screen adaptation of “American Gods” is finally moving forward. FremantleMedia announced earlier this month that they have secured the rights to the fantasy novel written by Neil Gaiman.

The plot posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of biblical and mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon, is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday, a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.

The project was first announced back in 2011 when Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone were planning on bringing the project to HBO. At the moment, there are no specific details available as to how exactly FreemantleMedia is planning to adapt the book, but check back for updates as soon as they become available.

Gaiman will serve as executive producer of the television series adaptation.

Bryan Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Options “Haunted” Comic

Haunted-Issue1_cover

The Red 5 Comics upcoming series, “Haunted,” has not even hit the shelves yet but it has already been optioned for film by Bryan Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Productions. As Red 5 is an independent publisher, the best way to ensure your copy of “Haunted” this spring is to pre-order it before February 28 from your comic shop using order code FEB141420. “Haunted #1” of the four-issue series is set for release on April 30, 2014.

“Haunted” shows us a world where the barrier between our world and the spiritual realm was mysteriously torn apart allowing the Earth to be overrun by ghosts, demons and poltergeists. Creatures once thought to be mythological terrorized mankind and society collapsed. Thirteen years later, Sarah McCallister manages to survive by being tough, smart, and looking out only for herself. But when a chance to set the world back to normal arises, she finds herself in the compromising position of putting her faith in strangers for the first time.

The four-part horror action-adventure was written by Scott Chitwood (“Drone,” “Afterburn,” “Dead or Alive”), illustrated by newcomer Danny Luckert, and colored by Ivan Plascencia (“Neozoic: Trader’s Gambit”). It is also featured in Red 5’s 2014 Free Comic Book Day issue.

“The problem with most ghost stories is that if the characters simply leave the haunted house, all of their problems are over,” said Chitwood. “But if the entire world is the haunted house, there’s nowhere to run or hide. Imagine the end of ‘Ghostbusters,’ but with the heroes failing and Gozer taking over the world.”

Chitwood commented on the main character Sarah and how she fits in to the overrun world.

“Sarah survived a traumatic and dangerous childhood, constantly on the run from all manner of horrors. But if she is to have any hope of saving the world, she must go against every instinct that has kept her alive so far.”
