Stephen Amell to become Green Arrow

We announced that the CW had given the Green Arrow the green light less than two weeks ago but the CW isn’t wasting time casting for the show. It was recently reported that The CW has cast Stephen Amell as the lead character, “Oliver Queen.”

“Arrow” is based on the comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, he first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in November 1941. While initially throughout his first twenty-five years, Green Arrow was not a significant hero. In the late 1960s, however, writer Denny O’Neil chose to have him lose his fortune, this put him in a unique working class advantage that many people could identify with. In 1970, he was paired with the more law-and-order-oriented hero Green Lantern in a groundbreaking, socially conscious comic book series. Since then added to the revival of comics of late, he has been popular among comic book fans and most writers have taken an urban, gritty approach to the character.  Continue reading →
