No More Batman For Christian Bale

Christian Bale has stated that the next installment of the popular franchise will be his last as the caped crusader. Bale told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he will no longer take on the role of Bruce Wayne and his alter ego after the next film.

Bale took the role of the famous superhero in the very popular 2005 film, Batman Begins. He then returned to the role in the critically acclaimed sequel, The Dark Knight. The sequel in itself grossed more than a billion dollars at the box office.

He is also returning for next film, the third in the series, The Dark Knight Rises. In this latest installment we get to see our dark hero fight Bane and Catwoman. This film is incredibly anticpated and is sure to gain a ton of money at the box office.

However, Bale is adament that he will no longer play the hero.

He told the Philippine Daily Inquirer:

“I wrapped (filming) a few days ago so that will be the last time I’m taking that cowl off.

“I believe the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it’s all done. Everything’s finished. It’s me and Chris — that will be the end of that Batman era.”

I was surprised by this because I love Bale in this role and I thought he would play it for maybe one other movie before quitting. What do you think about his statement that he won’t return? Do you think its the end of this generation’s Batman Franchise?
