The Young Carrie Bradshaw Is…

It was recently announced that The CW has green-lit the pilot episode for a series based on the book, The Carrie Diaries, written by Candace Bushnell. The book and series is a prequel to the hit show (that I love) “Sex and the City”. It follows the four best friends as they traverse the city and learn about life and love (so yes its just like the original show but for teens). However, who is going to play the four women in their teen years? And many people want to know who is going to play the titular Carrie?

The show and book both have Carrie as the main character and her world with her friends. The new show will take place in Manhattan in the 80’s as the group is growing up and going to school. In “Sex and the City” Carrie was played by Sarah Jessica Parker, who obviously can’t reprise her role as a high school student, so outside casting is a must.

The rumor mills have been swimming with ideas of who will play that character since last year when the project was first announced. So here are a couple of the contenders for the coveted role in a show that is most likely going to be a hit.

Emma Roberts: She has played in some great films like Scream 4 and It’s Kind of a Funny Story and definitely has the ability to play a wide variety of roles. Her blond locks and wide smile could be perfect for a younger Carrie.
Dianna Agron: I have heard many people say that Dianna is a “scene-stealer” in projects such as “Glee” but she is also gorgeous and could easily make the guys go wild. And she can still pull off being in high school. She has the same charisma as the girl in “Sex and the City” although personally I think she would be more fit as a Samantha.
Ashley Tisdale: Ashley could play the role of Carrie, and she has been on several CW shows so they might want her to helm this new project. But her age of 26 might make it hard for her to blend into high school again.
Blake Lively: Blake was a fan favorite last year when the project was first announced. She could definitely pull off a young Carrie Bradshaw. Her experience in “Gossip Girl” was perfect preparation for the show. However, she has recently been doing more movies than TV and might now want to stick with the small screen.
Whoever they cast, I hope they pick someone who can pull of the sincere yet sexy look that Carrie was famous for in the original series. Who do you think should play the titular role?
