Daniel Radcliffe Drunk During Harry Potter Filming

Daniel Radcliffe, the “Harry Potter” superstar, recently admitted that while filming scenes for some of the “Harry Potter” films. He described the point of his life as a time when he was drinking nightly. 

The young star was propelled into stardom when he was cast as the young boy wizard who would eventually save the world in the blockbuster hit “Harry Potter” film series. In 2000, at 11 years-old, Radcliffe was cast for the role that would later change his life. The film series that was based on the worldwide bestseller book series of the same names, written by J.K. Rowling.

He has since been open about his struggles regarding his fame from the film series, and more recently his struggles with drinking during the height of his fame.

During his interview with Heat Magazine he said:

“I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem. People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don’t want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily – I mean nightly.”

Although Radcliffe admitted to being drunk during the filming, he made a point to say that he never actually drank while working.

“I can honestly say I never drank at work on ‘Harry Potter.’ I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes.”

He also spoke out about the shame he felt for his actions and the things he may or may not have done while drinking during those formidable years.

“[A]fter a while, you’re living under such a cloud of shame about what you’ve done and the dread of who you might see, what you might have said to them, what you might have done with them.”

Thankfully, love seemed to save Radcliffe from his self-destructive path. He met his current girlfriend who he credits with helping him and loving him despite everything and who was “a wonderful, wonderful girl, who’s far too good for me.”

He added:

“I can also be quite insecure. A lot of actors have self-doubt. I live under that the whole time, and it’s how I function best. I think she puts up with a lot; she says she doesn’t.”

Radcliffe recently had his first post-Harry Potter film, Woman in Black which is based on the novel of the same name by Susan Hill.
