Terry Moore’s horror comic book, “Rachel Rising,” has been optioned for the small screen according to The Hollywood Reporter. The rights for the comic book were bought by Alcon Television Group who will be working with property for a television development. Alcon is currently looking for a showrunner to helm the project as well as a network for the show to call home.
“Rachel Rising” follows “a woman named Rachel who wakes up dead in a shallow grave. She begins to unravel the mystery of her death while crossing paths with not only friends but also a mysterious blonde woman who is tracking her and a horrific little girl named Zoe, out on a killing spree. Also figuring into the mix is the history of the local town, magic and witchcraft.”
The author, Moore, is most known for his on-going series “Strangers in Paradise.”
There is no word on who is sought to star in the adaptation or an expected premiere date for the series. Given the subject matter however, it is safe to assume that if it stays true to the source material it will carry a “mature audiences only” rating. Unfortunately, I can see this getting adapted on networks like The CW who has made their specialty over the last few years in supernatural dramas.
