Are you fucking kidding me? The excruciatingly unbearable Netflix exclusive series, “Hemlock Grove” that aired last year, has been officially picked for a second season that will air next year. I really hated that show and if want to know how much I hated it you can read my review here. I honestly do not see how this series merits another season. However, it is happening. The series stars Famke Janssen, Bill Skarsgård, Landon Liboiron, Freya Tingley, and Dougray Scott. The second season will consist of 10 episodes that will go into production later this year. The sophomore season of Hemlock Grove will premiere in 2014.
The show had potential. It is based on the novel of the same name by Brian McGreevy and has Eli Roth has executive producer. The second season will have now see showrunner Charles H. (Chic) Eglee (“The Walking Dead,” “Dexter,” “The Shield”) joins the crew as executive producer.
“Hemlock Grove” is a gothic horror thriller which explores the strange happenings in a small Pennsylvania town. The show focuses on the unlikely friendship between the founding family’s young heir, Roman Godfrey, and the relative newcomer and outsider, Peter Rumancek. Each holds a monstrous secret that has been unleashed.
According to Roth, the world LOVED the series. And by world I’m assuming he means teenagers who are thrilled to see “Twilight” all over again but this time with lots of boobs and sex.
“The worldwide fan response to ‘Hemlock Grove’ was phenomenal. Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked. Season One was just a warm up for what we have in store for season two. Get ready to be scared in ways you never expected.”
Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix also commented,
“In its first season, Eli, Brian, Lee and the team did an incredible job of introducing viewers to a unique world of memorable characters. Chic’s addition to the show, and his experience on such fan favorites as ‘The Shield,’ ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Dexter,’ will heighten the intensity of the mystery that grips ‘Hemlock Grove.'”
The drama series is the first foray into television by Roth. It was developed by Brian McGreevy & Lee Shipman and is executive produced by Roth, Eglee, McGreevy & Shipman, Eric Newman and Michael Connolly. The one-hour gothic thriller is produced by Gaumont International Television for Netflix.
Honestly I wasted what, like 13- 14 hours or something on this show? I can safely say they will not be getting another 10 hours out of me for season 2.
