hemlock-grove-trailer

Netflix has officially renewed their original series “Hemlock Grove” for a third and final season. The series is based on the novel of the same name written by Brian McGreevy.

In the second season, the town of Hemlock Grove continued to come to grips with the shocking massacre incurred by one of its deadliest creatures. Roman (Bill Skarsgard) and Peter (Landon Liboiron) faced new responsibilities and the realities that come with adulthood. Roman struggled with his relationship with his mother (Famke Janssen) as he wrestled with his unwanted Upir birthright and the disappearance of his sister, Shelley (Madeleine Martin). Peter moved in with Destiny (Kaniehtiio Horn) and was forced to get a job after his mother was sent away. Meanwhile, in search of a new life, newcomer Miranda Cates (Madeline Brewer), embarked on Hemlock Grove with an unknowingly profound effect on Peter and Roman. And Norman (Dougray Scott), still reeling from the loss of his family, faced the harsh truth about those he loved.

Eli Roth, the show’s executive producer stated,

“We are so grateful to the fans of ‘Hemlock Grove’ who have championed the series so intensely over two seasons. We are looking forward to taking the last and final season into some dark and unexpected places, and to giving viewers the killer finale you’d come to expect from ‘Hemlock Grove.'”

Charles H. “Chic” Eglee will return as showrunner for the third season which will have ten episodes.

“We are delighted that our fans have invited us back to explore the fiendish recesses of the human condition for another season. Knowing it will be our last, gives us the opportunity to go out in a mushroom cloud of clever and soul shattering mayhem. See you soon on the twisted streets of Hemlock Grove,” said Eglee.

The third season is expected to premiere on Netflix Instant sometime in 2015.

Netflix has released the key art for the upcoming second season of Eli Roth’s “Hemlock Grove.” The show that doesn’t deserve a second season will premiere with ten new episodes on Friday, July 11. As a Netflix Original Series, it will have all ten episodes available at once.  You can see the new art above.

The show explores the strange happenings in the titular small Pennsylvania town, focusing on the unlikely friendship between the founding family’s young heir, Roman Godfrey (Skarsgård), and gypsy newcomer and outsider, Peter Rumancek (Liboiron). Each holds a monstrous secret that has been unleashed. Season two continues with the town coming to grips with the shocking massacre incurred by one of its deadliest creatures. Roman and Peter are now faced with new responsibilities and the realities that come with adulthood. Roman’s relationship with his mother (Janssen) is all but dead as he struggles with his unwanted Upir birthright and the disappearance of his sister, Shelley (Martin). Peter moves in with Destiny (Horn) and is forced to get a job after his mother is sent away. Meanwhile, in search of a new life, newcomer Miranda Cates (Brewer) embarks on Hemlock Grove with an unknowingly profound effect on Peter and Roman. Hemlock Grove Returns for Its Second Season on July 11

For some godforsaken reason, “Hemlock Grove” will premiere on Friday, July 11. The Netflix Original Series that is based on the novel by Brian McGreevy, will enter its second season this year.

All ten episodes of the one-hour series starring Famke Janssen, Bill Skarsgård, Landon Liboiron and Dougray Scott will be available at launch in all territories where Netflix is available — U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland, Latin America, the Nordics and the Netherlands. The series also stars Madeline Brewer, Madeleine Martin, Joel de la Fuente and Tiio Horn.

“Hemlock Grove” is a supernatural thriller which explores the strange happenings in a small Pennsylvania town. The show focuses on the unlikely friendship between the founding family’s young heir, Roman Godfrey (Skarsgård), and gypsy newcomer and outsider, Peter Rumancek (Liboiron). Each holds a monstrous secret that has been unleashed.

Season two continues with the town coming to grips with the shocking massacre incurred by one of its deadliest creatures. And Norman (Scott), still reeling from the loss of his family, must face the harsh truths that are uncovered about those he still loves.

“Season two of ‘Hemlock Grove’ is a hot mix of passion, intrigue and supernatural thrills that come together in mysterious and riveting ways,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix. “The intensity and suspense take things to a whole new level and open doors to a brand new chapter that our members are going to love.”

“Hemlock Grove” comes from executive producer Eli Roth.

“I cannot wait for fans to see what’s in store for season two – it is going to blow away all expectations,” said Roth. “Netflix has been an incredible partner, and whenever we wanted to take the story in a dangerous direction, they encouraged us to go even further – into a scarier, darker, and sexier place. We guarantee you won’t see anything like this anywhere else on television.”

In case you didn’t know, “Hemlock Grove” is THE WORST.

Hemlock Grove (Somehow) Picked Up For Second Season

hemlock-grove-trailer

Are you fucking kidding me? The excruciatingly unbearable Netflix exclusive series, “Hemlock Grove” that aired last year, has been officially picked for a second season that will air next year. I really hated that show and if want to know how much I hated it you can read my review here. I honestly do not see how this series merits another season. However, it is happening. The series stars Famke Janssen, Bill Skarsgård, Landon Liboiron, Freya Tingley, and Dougray Scott. The second season will consist of 10 episodes that will go into production later this year. The sophomore season of Hemlock Grove will premiere in 2014. Continue reading

Hemlock Grove Is Just A Teen Drama With Better Effects and More Boobs – Review

7-hemlock-grove

Honestly, I was SO excited about this show before it premiered on Netflix (Also let me know I LOVE the idea of premiering a whole series on Netflix). It was supposed to be gristly, horrifying and all together creepy. I was honestly picturing something along the lines of “American Horror Story.” Not to mention it was adapted by Eli Roth a horror movie man himself. But damn, was I disappointed in the long run.

“Hemlock Grove” follows the small Pennsylvania town after several murders of young high school girls. Two young men decide to find the killer themselves but find themselves in something much deeper and much bigger. The series is based on the  Horror/Thriller novel of the same name written by Brian McGreevy. It was initially released on March 27, 2012. The show premiered all 13 episodes on Netflix on April 19, 2013.

New Red Band Trailer for Netflix’s Hemlock Grove Revealed

hemlock-grove-trailer

The new Netflix exclusive series, “Hemlock Grove” has released a new Red Band trailer. The series will release its first season on Netflix this Friday consisting of 13 episodes. “Hemlock Grove” was adapted for the small screen by horror veteran Eli Roth who also serves as executive producer. It is based on the novel of the same name by Brian McGreevy.

Described as being a riveting one-hour murder mystery, “Hemlock Grove” revolves around the residents of a former Pennsylvania steel town. When 17-year-old Brooke Bluebell is brutally murdered, any of Hemlock’s peculiar inhabitants – or killer creatures – could be suspects. Through the investigation, the town’s seamier side is exposed, revealing nothing is what it seems.

Famke Janssen, Dougray Scott, Bill Skarsgård, Landon Liboiron, Penelope Mitchell and Freya Tingley star in the series.

You can watch the trailer below, but be warned, it is most definitely for mature audiences only.

Netflix To Premiere Exclusive Horror Series Hemlock Grove

Horror connoisseurs Eli Roth and Brian McGreevy are creating a new series to be released exclusively on Netflix Instant. The new series, “Hemlock Grove” will premiere an entire 13-episode season for viewers to watch at their own convenience, or marathon on Netflix Streaming.

Due to the success of horror-based shows “The Walking Dead” and “American Horror Story”, other filmmakers are looking to capitalize on the genre’s budding mainstream popularity.

While some of these contenders (among them a revamp of “The Munsters”) are likely just jumping on the bandwagon, Roth and McGreevy hope to have created something unique.

Roth recently did an interview with the website, ShockTillYouDrop regarding his new television project:

If you do something well and you have an original take on something, then absolutely go for it.”

The series, based on McGreevy’s novel of the same name, has a dark and mysterious premise. The official synopsis describes it as:

The body of a young girl is found mangled and murdered in the woods of Hemlock Grove, Pennsylvania, in the shadow of the abandoned Godfrey Steel mill. A manhunt ensues—though the authorities aren’t sure if it’s a man they should be looking for. Some suspect an escapee from the White Tower, a foreboding biotech facility owned by the Godfrey family—their personal fortune and the local economy having moved on from Pittsburgh steel—where, if rumors are true, biological experiments of the most unethical kind take place. Others turn to Peter Rumancek, a Gypsy trailer-trash kid who has told impressionable high school classmates that he’s a werewolf. Or perhaps it’s Roman, the son of the late JR Godfrey, who rules the adolescent social scene with the casual arrogance of a cold-blooded aristocrat, his superior status unquestioned despite his decidedly freakish sister, Shelley, whose monstrous medical conditions belie a sweet intelligence, and his otherworldly control freak of a mother, Olivia.

Roth went on to tell the site that the series will deal with the supernatural.

It’s actually a drama set in this world and has the themes of vampires and werewolves and monster mythology, Frankenstein mythology. It’s this new biotech world.”

Fans of Roth’s blood-and-guts style of direction need not worry about the show being toned down for television. Being a Netflix Original, Roth won’t have to worry about advertisers or ratings boards. He’ll be able to focus on content without having to censor himself, allowing for more mature subject matter.

That’s what I liked about it. That we could do something that was adult subject matter, and if we want to go dark and violent, we can.  If we want to have the language, we can. We have the freedom to do something like it’s on cable… to go as R-rated or as NC-17 as we want. Where the teenagers could really behave like modern adolescents.”

While gore and shock value are crucial elements in Roth’s films, he said the story will be his top priority with “Hemlock Grove.”

We don’t want to make a show where you watch one episode and go, ‘Oh God, why did I see that?’ Roth said. “I want people to watch the show and go, ‘Holy fuck, I can’t believe what they did on Hemlock Grove. Did you see that transformation scene? That was awesome, I want to watch more.’ I think there’s a fine line between kicking an audience’s ass and making them feel like they’ve been kicked in the balls.”

On March 21, 2012, Netflix announced that “Hemlock Grove” will be coming to the instant streaming collection in early 2013.
