Hulu has officially closed an exclusive deal with AMC for the rights to stream the upcoming series “Fear the Walking Dead,” the companion series to “The Walking Dead.”

The multi-year deal between Hulu and AMC also included several other scripted shows from the network.

Mike Hopkins, Chief Executive Officer at Hulu, said,

“AMC Networks has an incredible reputation and track record in producing captivating storytelling across a variety of genres for true connoisseurs of television. This huge partnership guarantees that Hulu viewers will soon be able to enjoy the newest slate of premium programming from some of the top cable networks.”

“Fear the Walking Dead” stars Kim Dickens (Gone Girl), Cliff Curtis (Live Free or Die Hard), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (“The 100”). The spin-off companion series is set in Los Angeles and centers on new characters and storyline but in the zombified world created by Robert Kirkman.

“The Walking Dead” veterans Greg Nicotero, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are all executive producers of the new series. Kirkman will also be involved in the spin-off and has said that the spinoff will look and feel “startlingly different” from the original series. Dave Erickson is an executive producer and showrunner.

The spin-off has already been ordered for two seasons. The first six episodes will premiere on AMC later this summer on AMC.
