Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Take Place After The Avenger’s

Marvel-Studios-Join-SHIELD-viral

The upcoming television series, “Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.” has been gaining in anticipation since it was announced that Marvel favorite Clark Gregg would be returning as Agent Phil Coulson. However, questions were abound about when and where the series would take place in regards to the timeline of the films.

IGN recently spoke with ABC President Paul Lee, who definitively stated that the series takes place after the events of The Avengers.

There is no question that it is part of the Marvel Universe. In fact, the story takes place after the battle for New York,” said Lee.

It was also assured that the series would take place on it’s own terms and be it’s own story rather than an extension of the films.

This is S.H.I.E.L.D. They’re following their own particular stories. There are characters in it, Coulson, who clearly come from Avengers. So it’s part of the world, but we’re going to be very, very careful that we don’t tread on the toes of the features and build a whole new world. And that’s what Joss Whedon does better than anybody else. He’s built a world for us.”

One of the bigegest qiestions that has been raised is how the fate of Agent Coulson in the film will be addressed in the series. Coulson, who died in The Avengers, has been confirmed for the series. This question, it seems, will not be addressed until the series premieres or gets closer to its premiere date.

The pilot for “Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.” will begin filming later this month and is expected to air this fall if picked up for series. In the show, Clark Gregg is joined by Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, and Chloe Bennet as Skye. Joss Whedon will direct the pilot and co-write it with his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.

game-of-thrones-season-3-premeire-poster

Ale and beer and wine are some of the most often mentioned items in all of the “Game of Thrones” universe and soon you can enjoy the series with a cold class of themed beer for yourself! (Anyone who knows me, knows my penchant for themed things so you can only imagine my excitement). HBO and Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown N.Y.are teaming up to create a line of beers based on the hit TV series.

The beers will be belgian style and will be based on themes and characters from the HBO series. The first in the series is named Iron Throne Blonde Ale after the throne on which the King of Westeros sits, and will be released nationwide in the U.S. in late March in time to watch the premiere of Season 3 of “Game of Thrones” on March 31.

Three more themed beers are expected to follow the first one with the second one expected to be released next fall. They have not released what the other flavors will be called but if they don’t have a “Winter is Coming” winter ale, then they are doing something wrong.

Ommegang Brewery, a Belgian-style brewery, is known for its popular Ommegang abbey ale, Rare Vos amber ale and Three Philosophers.

Season 3 of “Game of Thrones” will premiere on HBO on March 31, 2013 and will follow the first half of the novel, “A Storm of Swords.”

Hannibal-NBC-season-1-poster

The premiere of NBC’s upcoming series based on the infamous character of Hannibal Lector is looming closer and with that new cast members are being confirmed. The new series aptly entitled, “Hannibal” is set to star “The X-Files” star Gillian Anderson in the role of psychiatrist to Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen).

Bryan Fuller, genius behind to soon cancelled series “Pushing Daisies” and “Dead Like Me,” will be the showrunner for the new series. With Fuller at the helm this stands to have a good chance at being pure awesome.

“Hannibal” will also star Hugh Dancy and Lawrence Fishburne. The official plot description is as follows:

One of the most fascinating literary characters comes to life on television for the first time: psychiatrist-turned-serial killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. In this new drama from Bryan Fuller, based on the characters from Thomas Harris’ classic novels, we see where this incredible story began.

Will Graham is a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham’s unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone – even psychopaths. He seems to know what makes them tick. But when the mind of the twisted killer he’s pursuing is too complicated for even Will to comprehend, he enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country. Armed with the uncanny expertise of the brilliant doctor, Will and Hannibal (known as a serial killer only to the audience) form a brilliant partnership and it seems there’s no villain they can’t catch. If Will only knew…

“Hannibal” is expected to debut sometime in 2013.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Production Video Released

Our first glimpse into the world of season three of “Game Of Thrones” from HBO has graced the internet. A brand new 2-minute clip was released last night before the  Boardwalk Empire finale and it has finally made it’s way online.

In the clip, creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, as well as cast members including Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clark, talk about the upcoming season and tease the story lines fans are eager to see.

However, what fans are talking about most is the small glimpse we see of this seasons new characters such as Queen of Thorns Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) and the Reed siblings, Jojen (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) and Meera (Ellie Kendirck).

Benioff and Weiss agree that this may well be the best season of Thrones yet:

“This is the season that Dan and I have been anticipating from the very beginning,” the former explains. Weiss adds that he and his partner have always “envisioned season 3 as sort of the place we needed to get. If we made it through season 3 and if we could do season 3 right, then it would all be worthwhile.”

It is known: Game of Thrones‘s third season premieres March 21. You can watch the 2 minute clip below:

CW Releases Details About New Wonder Woman Series

After the success of their most recent comic book adaptation, “Arrow,” The CW is eyeing a new project. Warner Bros. TV is working to create a pilot for a potential new series based on the Wonder Woman comic book series. The studio has already hired a director to search for the titular heroine in the adaptation.

The project will also include the Wonder Woman origin story written by Allan Heinberg that chronicles the female superhero’s life as a young Amazonian, before she becomes a warrior princess with super powers.

The studio has released an official breakdown of the character for the project which states,

“She comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield. Because of relentless brutality of her life at home, Iris looks at our world with absolute awe and astonishment. She’s delighted and just as often horrified by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream. It’s all new and fascinating and sometimes slightly troubling to her. Iris is completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs. And she’s completely inexperienced at interpersonal relationships. She has no social filter, does not suffer fools, and tends to do and say exactly what’s on her mind at all times. She’s bluntly, refreshingly honest. She can tell when you’re lying to her. And she doesn’t have time or patience for politics or tact because she’s too busy trying to experience everything our world has to offer. There are too many sights to see and things to learn and people to care for. Hers is a true, noble, and generous heart. And she will fight and die for the people she loves. Iris is a fierce warrior with the innocent heart of a romantic and she will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere.”

As the script continues to be written, the cast for project is still being hired. There is no word on when the pilot may be done or which actresses they are looking toward to fill the lead role.

Game of Thrones: The Mobile Game Edition

If you are anxiously awaiting the new season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” you are not alone. However, there is a new mobile app that might help make the wait a little easier to bear. “A World of Ice and Fire” is a brand new iPhone and iPad app that helps fans of the book and television series keep track of the ever mounting list of characters, locations, and Houses throughout the series.

Although the app uses the book for references rather than the television series, fans of the “Game of Thrones” should have no trouble using the app.

The app is free, but without buying content the app only gives basic information on some characters and places. for $1.99, you can gain access to more information about the characters for the first book  and $0.99 for each subsequent novel or $4.99 for everything in the app. The $4.99 purchase saves $1 over buying the pack individually. After buying the “InfoPacks” users can tell the app where they read to in the series so they can avoid any spoilers.

The app seems to be most helpful to those reading the series as the ever growing character list can get confusing as well as the different Houses and the locations of Essos and Westeros.  The maps will help readers find where the characters are in relation to one another, which is especially useful when war breaks out in the realm.

A World of Ice and Fire is currently available for iPhone and iPad, though Mashable says versions of the app are coming for Android and Nook tablets sometime in the future.
