The “Harry Potter” spin off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, released the first trailer and I have to admit, it looks pretty intriguing.
The film takes place in 1920s New York, 70 years before Harry reads magizoologist Newt Scamander’s book of the same name at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them follows Newt Scamander as he searches for fantastical beasts and unusual creatures while telling the story of an American community who must deal with a judgmental and prejudiced anti-magic society called the New Salem Philanthropic Society. The sinister group, led by Mary Lou (Samantha Morton), will go to great lengths to kill any and all witches and wizards.
The film, which will be directed by David Yates, marks the screenwriting debut of Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters Nov. 18, 2016. You can watch the trailer below.

The “Harry Potter” spinoff was confirmed to be hitting theaters as a trilogy with this first film releasing on November 18, 2016. In this week’s announcement, Warner Bros. revealed that the part 2 and part 3 would come out in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
The screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is being written by author Rowling. The tale follows a character mentioned in the Harry Potter series called Newt Scamander as he journeys through New York City. It is set 70 years before the HP series takes place.
David Yates is returning as director of the series. Wall Street Journal reporter Ben Fritz, who was at the conference this week, tweeted a cryptic note that said the series would be “at least” a trilogy. Could this mean there may be more films in the future?
The film adaptation of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will be helmed by a director who at least knows what he is doing! David Yates has signed on to head the project which is based on the novel set in world of “Harry Potter.” Yates has previously directed four of the beloved “Harry Potter” film adaptations.
The novel, written by J.K. Rowling, is set in the wizarding world and is inspired by the Hogwarts textbook that was featured in the Harry Potter series also written by Rowling. It follows the adventures of the fictitious author Newt Scamander as he tracks down the mysterious, amazing, and all together fantastic beasts that are hidden among the wizarding and muggle world.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a planned trilogy. It will feature creatures, characters, and aspects of society that will be familiar to “Harry Potter” fans. However, the tale begins seventy years before Harry Potter begins.
Currently, there is no word on any actors attached to star in the project or when we can expect the film to go into production. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will release in theaters on November 18, 2016.
Warner Bros. is not wasting any time. The company has announced that the “Harry Potter” franchise spinoff novel, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will have its film version released on November 18, 2016.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” was also written by J.K. Rowling. It follows the adventures of the book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander.
The novel is the first in a planned trilogy set in the world of wizardry. It will feature magical creatures and characters, some of which will be familiar to devoted Harry Potter fans. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.
