Selena Gomez To Star and Produce The Sky Is Everywhere

The “Wizards of Waverly Place” star isn’t wasting any time once her mega-hit television show wraps this year. She has signed on for two movies and recently added a new one to the list. Gomez is set to star and produce in the film, The Sky Is Everywhere, which is based on the book of the same name by Jandy Nelson.

Gomez is going to produce the project through her production company, July Moon and it was revealed that she is also going to star in it as well.

She is going to play the lead role of 17-year-old Lennie Walker, a shy girl whose life is turned upside down when her older sister dies.

The official book synopsis is:

“Lennie plays second clarinet in the school orchestra and has always happily been second fiddle to her charismatic older sister, Bailey. Then Bailey dies suddenly, and Lennie is left at sea without her anchor. Overcome by emotion, Lennie soon finds herself torn between two boys: Bailey’s boyfriend, Toby, and Joe, the charming and musically gifted new boy in town. While Toby can’t see her without seeing Bailey and Joe sees her only for herself, each offers Lennie something she desperately needs. But ultimately, it’s up to Lennie to find her own way toward what she really needs – without Bailey.”

The Sky is Everywhere is noted as one of YALSA’s 2011 Best Fiction for Young Adults and has earned starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and Voices of Youth Advocates.

This definitely seems like a new role and a new film for Gomez. I think she will do a great job with it and I only see her going up from here.
