I can very confidently say, World War Z written by Max Brooks is one of my favorite books. And I am thrilled (and admittedly a little scared) that they are turning it into a movie. I am less thrilled though that they are turning it into a TRILOGY.
It is still roughly a year away from premiering but the director, Marc Forster is already planning a potential trilogy of World War Z films. The films leading star, Brad Pitt told the Los Angeles Times that Paramount Pictures helping plan the potential trilogy as well.
The book it self is broken up into different categories because mainly it is made up of interviews about the global disaster known as “Z-Day” (which is coming folks, so be prepared!). The story for the film will revolve around the United Nations employee Gerry Lane, played by Pitt, as he travels the world racing to help stop the Zombie pandemic. The pandemic that is threatening to decimate humanity and the world.
The supporting cast will feature Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse and arrives from screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan.
The film is set to release on December 21st, and yes it is to fall on the fateful and highly-publicized real world end date given by the Mayan calendar. Coincidence? No, probably not.
If you haven’t read this book, DO IT.NOW. Seriously.
