Karen Thompson Walker’s debut novel, “The Age of Miracles” is about to be adapted for the big screen. Seth Lochhead, most known for his work on Hanna, has adapted the screenplay. It was announced today that Catherine Hardwicke will be helming the project as the director while River Road Entertainment’s founder Bill Pohlad will produce.
“The Age of Miracles” is set amidst an advancing catastrophe after the Earth’s rotation mysteriously slows. The novel is a suspenseful and romantic snapshot of one young girl’s adolescence, a poignant family drama, and a heartrending glimpse into the everyday tragedies and triumphs that define what it is to be human in a world that might just be ending.
Hardwicke is no stranger to the entertainment industry as she recently completed production on Plush, a thriller she co-wrote with Arty Nelson. The film will star Emily Browning, Cam Gigandet, and Xavier Samuels. She is currently in production directing CBS’ drama pilot, “Reckless,” from a script by Dana Stevens.
There is no word yet on the projected release date for the film or when the project will begin production. The cast list for “The Age of Miracles” has also not been set.
