I have been waiting for the first trailer of director Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie reboot to get a look into the update adaptation. Frankly. I was not disappointed. Screen Gems and MGM have officially released the first full trailer for the film that features Chloë Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort and Julianne Moore.
The film is touted as being a more direct remake of the book by Stephen King rather than a remake of the popular 1976 Brian De Palma film. It is a re-imagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.
In the trailer we get to see the range of Chloe Moretz as an actress as well as a glimpse into the infamous scene that takes place near the ending. From what we have seen of the upcoming film, it appears to be a solid adaptation. The film was priginally planned for release on March 15th was delayed until October, likely in an effort to get a better slot near Halloween.
Carrie is set to hit theaters on October 18, 2013. You can watch the official trailer below:
