Rumors are swirling that Warner Bros. are planning to keep Ben Affleck in the batsuit for a while. It appears they may be eyeing a 2019 release date for a solo Batman film with Affleck also in directors chair.
According to a report from Latino-Review, a standalone film featuring Affleck as Batman is being tentatively called The Batman. Due to the production schedule of the Batman vs. Superman film and then the Justice League film, that would put the solo film going into production sometime in 2017 or 2018.
The solo film has not been confirmed by any of the parties involved. Plus fans have not yet been convinced of Affleck’s ability to play the Dark Knight.
Considering the solo Batman film would still be another 5 years away, do you think it could happen or that Affleck is planning that far ahead? Would you be willing to see that film?
Director Zack Snyder has officially released the first image from the upcoming film Batman vs. Superman! You can see the image of Ben Affleck as Batman alongside his Batmobile above.
Snyder revealed the image with a simple tweet that said,
“I shot this with my @Leica_Camera M Monochrom. #Batman #Batmobile #Gotham”
Batman vs. Superman opens in theaters on May 6, 2016. It stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto and Ray Fisher.
Despite the fact that most fans were upset with the casting of Affleck as Batman, the above image at least looks pretty impressive. Will Affleck do a good job with the role?
The film is the sequel to last year’s Man of Steel.
This week Twentieth Century Fox tweeted an official still from the upcoming David Fincher directed film, Gone Girl. The film is based on the best-selling novel and stars Ben Affleck. You can see the film still above.
The novel was written by Gillian Flynn and centers on a philandering husband (Affleck), whose wife goes missing on their fifth anniversary.
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?
As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn’t do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?
The film still features Affleck addressing a crowd as he stands in front of a photograph of his missing wife (played by the gorgeous Rosamund Pike).
Gone Girl also stars Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry. It’s scheduled for a Oct. 3, 2014 release.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy Award winning screenwriter, Chris Terrio, has been hired to rewrite David Goyer’s screenplay for Zach Snyder’s upcoming project, tentatively known as Batman Vs. Superman.

Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. In addition, the film will mark the big screen debut of Wonder Woman as played by Gal Gadot.
Production on Batman vs. Superman is set to begin early next year at the Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac where it will occupy all seven sound stages on the lot in addition to several locations around the state.
The film will also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2015. So far, very few plot details have been revealed for the story however the studio received heavy backlash for the casting of Affleck as Batman.
According to a report from Variety, BFF’s Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have officially signed on to produce the film adaptation of popular comic series, “Sleeper.” The comic comes from Vertigo and will be produced for DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Also reported is that Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”) and David Wiener (“The Killing”) will pen the screenplay for the adaptation.
“Sleeper” was created by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. It ran from 2003 through 2005 and centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group, named Miss Misery. The series consisted of two twelve-issue limited series and the events of the first “season” served as a catalyst for the Coup D’Etat line-wide crossover.
The comic series was previously planned for a film adaptation via Warner Bros. with director Sam Raimi producing and Tom Cruise starring but the project fell through. Brubaker has said that this is at least the fifth time there have been serious attempts to film the story.
Currently, there is no director signed on for the film.
