Exorcism Diaries To Be Adapted By Barbara Marshall

It was announced today that Summit Entertainment has officially hired on Barbara Marshall to write the adaptation for Exorcism Diaries. The project, which was initially to be written by Jay Baruchel. It is based on the book “The Real Story Behind the Exorcist: A Study of the Haunted Boy and Other True-Life Horror Legends from Around the Nation’s Capital,” written by  Mark Opsasnick.

Marshall worked previously as a writer on the short-lived series, “Terra Nova.” Other than her work on that series, Marshall is a relative newcomer to Hollywood, but her script Peste landed on the black list in 2012. That script is currently set for development through IM Global.

The description of the novel is as follows:

In THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE EXORCIST, author Mark Opsasnick intrepidly investigates such true-life Washington, D.C. horror legends as the Haunted Boy, UFO contactee Tom Monteleone, the Luzo-Brazilian Black Magic Cult, the Ghost of Crybaby Bridge, and more.

Exorcism Diaries will be produced by Doug Davison, Roy Lee and Sonny Mallhi. There is no word yet on when the project will begin production or who is expected to direct the film.
