News regarding the sci-fi film Snowpiercer has been slow going since it was first announced last year. The film comes from director Bong Joon-ho, most known for his film The Host, and is an adaptation of the French graphic novel “Le Transperceneige.” Today, new photos have come online from the Korean site Hancinema (via Movies.com) revealing ten different character passports from the upcoming release.
The story s set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
Published in 1983, the post-apocalyptic future, black and white comic was made by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette. The book has since been translated to Korean where it may have finally made it’s way to director Bong Joon-ho; who co-wrote and directed the comedy-horror classic The Host. Bong Joon-ho bought the rights to the comic in 2005 and will be teaming up with Park Chan-wook and Dooho Choi to produce the movie. The most recent draft for the project was written by American screenwriter, Kelly Masterson, who is best know for writing the screenplay for the film “Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead.”
The film stars Chris Evans, Song Kangho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Brewmner, Alison Pill, John Hurt and Ed Harris.
