Vampire Academy Film Adaptation Reveals a Website and Teaser Poster

Richelle Mead’s hit book series is one step closer to releasing on the big screen. The film adaptation of Vampire Academy was first announced back in 2010 but as of this week, The Weinstein Company has revealed the film’s official site along with a motion teaser poster that you can see above.

Vampire Academy will be directed by Mark Waters, known for his work on Mean Girls. It stars Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovsky, Gabriel Byrne, Sarah Hyland, Joely Richardson, Cameron Monaghan, Sami Gayle, Claire Foy and Ashley Charles. The film is based on the events of the first book in the series from author, Mead. Adapting the first novel of series leaves room for the rest of the novels to also be adapted. There are currently 6 books in the series which continue to sell well among audiences. No word on whether the other novels will officially be adapted but is reasonable to assume if the first film does well in the box office that the others will follow.

The story follows Rose Hathaway (Deutch) is a Dhampir: half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi.

Vampire Academy is set to hit theaters February 14, 2014. You can see the official website here which at the moment hosts the teaser poster.
