Anne Rice is most known for her book series, “The Vampire Chronicles” and now Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have officially optioned the film rights to the series according to a report from TheWrap.

Most notably, the first installment in the book series, “Interview with the Vampire” was famously made into a film in 1994. It starred Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in the lead roles. Then, in 2002, the next installment was adapted, titled “The Queen of the Damned.” It starred Aaliyah and Stuart Townsend.

While the series has been optioned, there has been no announcement about what the exact plans are for the series. A remake of the “Interview with the Vampire” is very likely considering it has been 20 years since the original film was made. An official announcement is expected to made soon as the studio will have to begin planning for production.

Brian Grazer is set to producer with Hollywood BFF’s Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. No actors or directors have been announced for the project either.

bill murray

One of the best people in existence, Bill Murray, has joined the cast of the upcoming reboot of The Jungle Book from Jon Favreau. Murray will be lending his voice to lovable character Baloo (the bear.)

Baloo is often portrayed as an easy-going, lazy, or sleepy brown bear who puts off responsibility in favor of fun and/or sleeping.

The upcoming film will be both live-action and animation. It is based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling and is the iconic story of the young boy Mowgli who was raised by animals in the jungle.

Other cast members of The Jungle Book include Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha, Christopher Walken as King Louie, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, and Neel Sethi as Mowgli.

Favreau will be directing with a script written by Justin Marks. It should be noted that this project should not be confused with a similar project from Warner Bros. Pictures titled The Jungle Book: Origins that will be directed by Andy Serkis. The Serkis project will release a year later than this film from Favreau.

The Jungle Book is scheduled to hit theaters in 2D and 3D on October 9, 2015.

But everything changes when she meets a queen dragon. The bond they share will be deep and last forever. It will protect them when, for the first time in centuries, Lessa’s world is threatened by Thread, an evil substance that falls like rain and destroys everything it touches. Dragons and their Riders once protected the planet from Thread, but there are very few of them left these days. Now brave Lessa must risk her life, and the life of her beloved dragon, to save her beautiful world. . . .

TellTale Games Confirms The Walking Dead Season 3

As if this was  actually a question, but Telltale Games announced during the Skybound Entertainment panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 that their game “The Walking Dead” will continue on for a third season.

Unfortunately they did not give fans very many details about what the next installment will include. They also could not confirm when the game will release. Understandably Telltale is a bit busy as they are planning to release “Borderlands” and “Game of Thrones” this year.

The Telltale series takes place in the same fictional world as the comic book series from Robert Kirkman and the AMC series, with events occurring shortly after the onset of the zombie apocalypse in Georgia. Some characters from the original comic book series also make in-game appearances.

Hopefully Season 3 of “The Walking Dead” game will release sometime in 2015.

Maze Runner Sequel Hinted At SDCC 2014

maze-runner-movie-poster

Despite the fact that the film adaptation of “The Maze Runner” hasn’t released in theaters yet, it appears that a sequel is already on the mind of the studio and director Wes Ball. He revealed his plans at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

The Maze Runner is based on the post apocalyptic novel written by James Dashner. It follows Thomas (played by Dylan O’Brien in the film), who, along with his fellow abductees, must escape the eponymous maze they wake up in.

The novel has two sequels, “The Scorch Trials” and “The Death Cure.” If the first film is successful in the box office, Ball could turn the series into a film franchise. 20th Century Fox has already acquired the film rights to “The Scorch Trials” in a proactive move.

The Maze Runner is set to be released on September 19, 2014.

“Spider-Man 3” Coming in 2018 and “Sinister Six” in 2016

Sony has pushed back one of its most anticipated films, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to 2018. That means it has been delayed two years unfortunately. But there is good news. Sinister Six has gotten a release date of November 11, 2016.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has not gotten a specific day in 2018. It was intended for May 4, 2018 but Sony has said that is no longer the plan. One reason the third installment was pushed back was the less than impressive box office results of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Bringing in Sinister Six will show a different world of Spider-Man before the next film comes out, hopefully boosting interest in the franchise. The “Sinister Six” super-villains first appeared in 1964 and were drawn from Spider-Man’s list of enemies. Led by Doctor Octopus, they included Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman and the Vulture.

Sinister Six is directed by Drew Goddard who has proved himself in the past. Sony apparently agrees. Doug Belgrad, president, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group said,

“With ‘Sinister Six’ in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016.”

According to a report from Deadline, a film adaptation of Marco Pierre White’s 2010 memoir “The Devil in the Kitchen” is on the way. The project will be brought to film by Colet Abedi, Giannina Facio and Ridley Scott.

The memoir is officially described as follows:

Without question, the original rock-star chef is Marco Pierre White. Anyone with even a passing interest in the food world knows White is a legend. The first British chef (and the youngest chef anywhere) to win three Michelin stars – and also the only chef ever to give them all back – is a chain-smoking, pot-throwing multiply- married culinary genius whose fierce devotion to food and restaurants has been the only constant in a life of tabloid-ready turmoil.

White explores his life from being a member of the working class to a famous culinary name. He features some tales of the biggest names in Hollywood and the world such as Mario Batali, Gordon Ramsay, Albert Roux, Raymond Blanc, Michael Caine, Damien Hirst, and even Prince Charles.

There has been no anticipated release date or an announcement of when it will begin production.
