Paul Rudd Offers Ant-Man and the Wasp Update

Paul Rudd is definitely my new sweetheart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I have been waiting patiently for the next feature film for his character, Ant-Man. Rudd recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight updating fans on the status of the next film, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Rudd said,

“We’ve been coming up with the story, just turned in a treatment, but it’s so preliminary. We’ll see. We have an idea of what it might look like but it could change a lot from where we’re at now.”

At least we can take care in the fact that Rudd as Ant-Man has started to be featured in other Marvel films, most recently, Captain America: Civil War. So we have that to tide us over until Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Rudd has reportedly been working on the script for the sequel MCU project with Transformers writers Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari and Academy Award winner Adam McKay.

Right now, what we do know though, is that Ant-Man and the Wasp will see the return of Rudd as Scott Lang alongside Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, with Michael Douglas also expected to reprise the role of Hank Pym in the film. Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for release on July 6, 2018.

While updating fans on the sequel, he also took time to praise the addition of Brie Larson to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel.

“I love that. Love Brie Larson. I think she’s incredible. I think we’ve very lucky to have Brie Larson in the fold.”

Ant-Man has officially been moved up to take the place of Batman vs. Superman in the July 17th release slot. Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man has been moved up two weeks from July 31, 2015

The cast list for the project is finally filling up. Paul Rudd has been cast as Scott Lang/ Ant-Man while Michael Douglas will play Hank Pym.

Ant-Man will be the first film in the “Phase Three” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will follow Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s May 1, 2015 release. The movie will be begin production early next year and is set to be directed by Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish.

Paul Rudd Cast In Lead Role In Ant-Man

Paul Rudd, my secret BFF, has officially been cast in the leading role for the upcoming Marvel Studios project, Ant-Man. Rudd has been rumored to be the top choice for the titular role since earlier this year but last night, The Wrap reported that Rudd will be playing Hank Pym in the July 31, 2015 release.

Ant-Man will be begin production early next year and is set to be directed by Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish.

It is also rumored that Wright’s original plans for the film called for both Pym and the later Ant-Man of the comics, Scott Lang, to appear in the feature.

“The idea that we have for the adaptation is to actually involve both… Henry Pym and Scott Lang,” Wright told SuperHeroHype some years ago. “So you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60’s, in sort of ‘Tales to Astonish’ mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang’s story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him.”

Ant-Man will be the first film in the “Phase Three” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will follow Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s May 1, 2015 release.
