Robert Kirkman Teases Season Five of The Walking Dead

With the amazing season 4 finale a few weeks behind us now, fans are desperate for the fifth season to get here. Recently, series creator Robert Kirkman spoke with MTV and teased some information about what we can see in season 5.

“I just turned in the second episode script for season five, and all the writers are hard at work on their individual episodes. We’re pretty much halfway through the fifth season, script-wise. And we’ve already nailed down what our finale is, and what our overall arc of the season is. The back half of the season is taking shape very quickly, and we’ll have all the scripts written by the summer…It’s always interesting the way these things overlap. By the time people have seen the entirety of the season, we’re already pretty much done with the writing on the first half of the next season. We’re always quite a bit ahead. We’ll be rolling cameras in May, so I’m very excited about that.”

The subject of the character Negan from the comics was also brought up, whom Kirkman says they are planning to introduce to the series.

“As far as Negan casting goes, Scott (Gimple, showrunner) and I are always talking about who we would put in that, it’s definitely on our minds, and there are definitely a lot of candidates. But I wouldn’t expect Negan too terribly soon, although he is definitely in the plan. It’s a 99% lock that he’s going to be in the show eventually, so be on the lookout for that.”

Season 5 of “The Walking Dead” will debut on AMC on Sundays this fall.

A new “The Walking Dead” game is on the horizon. Next Games and AMC announced this week that a new mobile game based on the series is in production. The game will see the iconic television and comic book series characters come to life in the mobile medium.

The game is planned to have a launch date that coincides with season 5 of the AMC series.

“We chose to team up with Next Games because of their outstanding creative and technical talent, as well as a willingness to re-imagine the unique and compelling world of The Walking Dead, which has built a significant and passionate global fan community,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president. “We’re thrilled to be part of this next wave of games innovation and participating in a project that – like the show itself – is in service of the fans.”

Teemu Huuhtanen, CEO at Next Games, added,

“Our take on the undead survival franchise will match the against-all-odds action and moment-to-moment tension of the TV series. We want to find that sweet spot where gameplay and narrative inform and reinforce one another. Like AMC’sThe Walking Dead itself, we’re not giving away too many details right out the gate, but I can confidently state it’s unlike anything we’ve seen from The Walking Dead franchise on home or mobile gaming hardware before.”

The companies will announce additional details related to The Walking Dead game in the coming months.

The second half of the fourth season of “The Walking Dead” has gotten its own teaser art courtesy of AMC. The art features Carl for once in the forefront with Rick behind him. Above the father/son duo is the tagline, “Don’t Look Back.” You can see it above!

“The Walking Dead” will return (finally) on Sunday, February 9th. The mid-season premiere will be followed by a brand new episode of “Talking Dead” at 10pm.

The zombie survival series continues to be the #1 show on all of television among the coveted 18-49 demographic and remains the highest-rated series in the history of cable television. The first eight episodes of its fourth season delivered an average of 13 million viewers and 8.4 million adults 18-49.

It is based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The series has been well received and has received many award nominations including ones for the Writers Guild of America Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series (Drama). The series has also attained strong Nielsen ratings, surpassing various records for a cable series, including receiving 16.1 million viewers for its season four premiere to become the most-watched drama series telecast in basic cable history.

Showrunner Scott Gimple Talks About What’s Next on The Walking Dead

Walking Dead

If you haven’t seen the mid-season finale of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” you REALLY should. Like right now. If you don’t, fair warning, there are spoilers below.

Fans who have read the comic book series that the AMC show is based on where probably not surprised by the shocking mid-season finale. The prison has been overrun and the newly born Judith is missing. Things. Are. Rough. According to showrunner, Scott Gimple, things are not going to be looking up anytime soon.

“It’s going to hit [Rick] in a way that we haven’t seen before,” Gimple told TV Guide. “If it’s just the two of them, [Carl is] going to have to step up quite a bit because circumstances are wildly different and a lot will depend on him in terms of them just surviving. They don’t have an awesome, dual-layer fence and brick buildings to hide behind. They’re out in the world.”

“The Walking Dead” Season 4 can not return fast enough. It will return to AMC on February 9, 2014.
