If you haven’t seen the new The Dark Knight Rises trailer, well then apparently you are one of the only ones. The trailer hit the web on Monday, December 19th, and made iTunes history in the process.
The highly anticipated trailer broke the iTunes record for “most viewed trailer” with an amazing 12.5 million views in the first 24 hours. The previous record-holder was the trailer for “The Avengers” with more than 10 million views.
The trailer for the film also broke the record for most combined downloads through the iTunes Movies Trailers site and the iTunes Trailers iOS app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
In the new trailer, villain Bane who is played by Tom Hardy blows up a football field, which as you know would be pretty incredible and evil. The trailer also features Anne Hathaway in the role of Catwoman, well rather her alter ego Selina Kyle but we all know who she turns in to. The trailer also features fellow newcomer Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The trailer is also teasing the fact that this is going to be the final Batman film from Christopher Nolan. (this is partly due to the fact that Bale has decided not to reprise his role)
I think I know why so many people rushed to see the trailer. Everyone is wondering, “Will Bane be able to top Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker?” It’s going to be a HUGE shoe to fill considering how iconic the Joker has become within the Batman series. The trailer is quite promising though.
The Dark Knight Rises will open in theaters July 20, 2012.
