Adorable nugget who I want to make out with, Evan Peters, has officially joined the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past as Magneto’s son, Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver.Director Bryan Singer revealed the news via his Twitter feed after news broke from Joss Whedon that Quicksilver and his sister, Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, both have roles in his script for Marvel’s The Avengers 2.
Singer wrote about Evan Peters joining the cast saying,
“Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver.”
X-Men: Days of Future Past is based on the comic book storyline “Days of Future Past,” which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel’s mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.
There is no word yet on whether there will be a collaboration between this film and Marvel’s The Avengers 2 but the partnership between 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney Pictures would be unprecedented and frankly amazing.
Peters will be joining already established cast members of Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart in the mutant ensemble, set for release July 18, 2014.
