Probably my favorite person in existence, Joss Whedon, is already giving away details about “Phase Two” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the film, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, even though there are still three movies between now and then.
EW talked to Whedon about his plans for the project and what part of Ultron’s 45-year history we could expect in the film.
“As a character I love [Ultron] because he’s so pissed off,” Whedon says. “…I knew right away what I wanted to do with him. He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it. He’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we’ll take away some of those powers because, at some point, everybody becomes magic, and I already have someone who’s a witch.”
Currently, Robert Downey Jr. is the only actor confirmed for the project, it is expected for most of the ensemble cast to return. Production is set to begin in February 2014. The film will hit theaters May 1, 2015. It is intended to be the sequel to 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers and the eleventh installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
