Elizabeth Olsen Confirms Scarlet Witch Role in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Elizabeth Olsen has officially confirmed with MTV that she is playing The Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. The news was confirmed last month via Twitter by Samuel L. Jackson, but this is the first time Olsen has spoken about the role.

In her interview with MTV, she spoke to the site about acting alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson once again, whom she just completed Godzilla with a few months ago. Johnson is set to play her character’s brother, also known as Quicksilver.

“We get to play husband and wife, and we get to play twin brother and sister,” she said. “It’s also fun because even though in ‘Godzilla’ we play husband and wife, we don’t have a lot of scenes together. I just love him. I love his family. I love his kids. I’m so excited we get to work with each other more and to actually work with each other. I think it’s going to be fun.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit theaters on May 1, 2015. Production is expect to begin in March 2014. The film is set to be scripted and directed by Joss Whedon and will see Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson reprising their roles from the first film, with Olsen, Taylor-Johnson and James Spader joining the cast in new roles.

Joss Whedon has done well to keep our interest in The Avengers sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. He revealed in June that Tom Hiddleston would not be reprising his role as Loki in the film but Whedon gave good reason as to why the Marvel Cinematic Universe would not be repeating villains. Robert California, or I guess you might know him as James Spader BDSM extraordinaire, has been cast in the lead villain role in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Spader will play the titular role of Ultron in the sequel that is expected to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.  Continue reading
