The upcoming adaptation of the “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon” has officially added two writers for the script. Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia have joined the project from Michael Bay for Ubisoft Motion Pictures and Warner Bros. Federman and Scaia were supervising producers on ABC’s “Charlie’s Angels” TV series and writers on Fox’s “Human Target.” They are currently finishing the script for Y: The Last Man and wrote the script for the Zorro reboot at Sony.
“Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon” is an adaptation of the game series that launched in 2001. It took place in the then-future of 2008, follows a US Army Special Forces team called Ghosts. The game’s success has spawned 2 expansion packs, Desert Siege and Island Thunder, as well as numerous sequels for video game consoles and the PC.
“Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon” was named Best Game of the Year in 2001 by both IGN and PC Gamer, as well as receiving the Best Sound award from PC Gamer magazine. It was a runner-up in IGN’s “Best Action Game 2001” and “Best Use Of Sound” (“Reader’s Choice”). Wargamer gave it three bronze awards in “Game of the Year”, awarded Red Storm with “Game Developer of the Year”, and gave “Game Publisher of the Year” to Ubisoft.
Bay will produce the big screen adaptation and is rumored to be possibly directing the film after he finishes work on his new Transformers movie.
