Scarlett Johansson to Star in The Psychopath Test Adaptation

PsychopathTest-Main

A new film adaptation is in the works for the non-fiction novel, “The Psychopath Test” written by Jon Ronson. It was announced last week that the film already has a star by way of Scarlett Johannson.

The book follows Ronson as he delves into the manipulative, deceitful and delusional world of psychopathy. He interviews a psychologist who convinces him that many of the world’s most influential businessmen and politicians may in fact be highly functional psychopaths. With a new set of skills to help him spot who may be psychotic, Ronson aims to uncover truths behind psychopathy diagnoses, treatments and how to identify a true psychopath.

The Psychopath Test will be directed by Jay Roach who is known for several different types of films, television shows, and miniseries. He previously worked on Recount and Game Change, but also showed his talent for comedy in Austin Powers and Meet the Parents.

There has been no word on when the adaptation will hit theaters or when production will begin.

“Hit-Girl” Centric Movie May Happen

Matthew Vaughn, the director behind the successful “Kick-Ass” movies has revealed recently that he has been flirting with the idea of a standalone prequel to  Kick-Ass featuring Hit-Girl.

Vaughn spoke about the idea during a press tour for his recent release, Kingsman: The Secret Service, which is now in theaters. He said that the “Kick-Ass” franchise is currently stalled due to the way the last film and he thinks it’s time for a change. Though the idea of a prequel starring Chloe Grace Moretz, who played Hit-Girl in the two films, is not likely as the actress recently turned 18. She was 12 when she filmed the first movie.

Regardless Vaughn said this about his plans for continuing the franchise:

“Do you know what’s going to be next if I do it … we’ve finished plotting it. What we have to do is, we’ve got to do the X-Men: First Class to the Kick-Ass world. We lost a few fans on Kick-Ass 2. It wasn’t as loved as one would’ve hoped.

So we have this idea for a Hit-Girl prequel. It’s a really strong, really simple prequel where I think we can regain the love and the passion. If that happens, I’m pretty sure I can persuade Aaron and Chloe to come back and finish the story of Kick-Asswith Kick-Ass 3.

Mark and I have already plotted Hit-Girl. We have to get the script done next. It’s so far out there, you have no idea.”

Hit-Girl was the most popular character of the franchise and would likely be the reason another movie would be given a greenlight despite Kick-Ass 2 not faring well in the box office.

Vaughn also revealed he would not return to direct the series.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will see the return of Lady Sif in an upcoming episode of the new season. The “Thor” film series character is played by Jaimie Alexander and she has previously crossed over into the Marvel series in Episode 15 of season one. According to Marvel Entertainment, in the upcoming episode Lady Sif will have no idea who she is, who Thor is, and will appear without her iconic Asgardian armor.

Executive producer Jeffrey Bell said,

“Sif has no idea who Thor is or that she serves a king, and we’re going to have fun with that. It’ll give us some much-needed humor in a season that’s been full of betrayal and death. Sif can’t even recall who she came here from Asgard to stop, but Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] and his team will try to help her figure all that out…We’ve been dealing a lot with space aliens and Inhumans in our last few episodes—things our Earth-bound heroes just don’t know much about. They need help understanding what’s really going on. Sif’s memory—what’s left of it—will come in very handy.”

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is set to return on March 3. It is rumored that Lady Sif will appear in the episode titled “Thor: Ragnarok” though it has not been confirm by ABC or Marvel.
