First Look At Ben Affleck Thriller “Gone Girl”

gonegirl

This week Twentieth Century Fox tweeted an official still from the upcoming David Fincher directed film, Gone Girl. The film is based on the best-selling novel and stars Ben Affleck. You can see the film still above.

The novel was written by Gillian Flynn and centers on a philandering husband (Affleck), whose wife goes missing on their fifth anniversary.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn’t do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?

The film still features Affleck addressing a crowd as he stands in front of a photograph of his missing wife (played by the gorgeous Rosamund Pike).

Gone Girl also stars Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry. It’s scheduled for a Oct. 3, 2014 release.

Amityville Sequel Set for Release on January 2, 2015

1945

The sequel of the newly rebooted Amityville Horror franchise has been set for a January 2, 2015 release by Dimension Films. The film will feature the events following the time of the original The Amityville Horror book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976.

An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as “The Amityville Horror”… only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.

The film, which was tentatively known as The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes, was written and directed by Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands.

The Amityville Horror franchise is based on the original horror novel written by Jay Anson, published in September 1977. The book is said to be based on the real-life paranormal experiences of the Lutz family, but has led to controversy and lawsuits over its truthfulness.

The 2015 release date makes the sequel the first major release of the year. It is also currently the only film scheduled for that particular release date.

Game of Thrones Most Pirated TV Show of 2013

GameOfThrones_20110412171451

If there is anything I know for sure, it is that HBO and AMC make some DAMN fine television shows. HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and AMC’s “Breaking Bad” are the two most downloaded and pirated shows of 2013.

The season 3 finale of “Game of Thrones” was downloaded 5.9 million times, most within one week after it aired in June. This is the second year in a row that it takes the top spot. The series finale for “Breaking Bad” which set several ratings records as well, was downloaded 4.2 million times.

Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes this summer quipped that widespread piracy of “Game of Thrones” was “better than an Emmy,” and said HBO has been dealing with theft of its content for years. “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan said in a BBC interview that piracy helped boost the show’s “brand awareness,” while also acknowledging it was a problem.

However, Gale Anne Hurd, the executive producer of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” vehemently disagrees.

“There’s a mistaken belief by many of my peers that piracy is somehow good, that viewers will develop a habit to pay for it,” Hurd said. “I’m not sure they really understand other than anecdotal evidence that their ratings go up that the people who pirate are not then going to choose legal downloads or legal viewing in the future.”

The piracy figures tracked by TorrentFreak include only files downloaded via BitTorrent’s file-sharing protocol, excluding illegal sharing on cyberlocker and streaming sites.

Hugh Jackman Negotiating for Villain Role in Joe Wright’s Pan

Opening night of Broadway's After Midnight-ArrivalsJoe Wright’s upcoming Peter Pan original tale has begun casting. Hugh Jackman is currently being eyed to play the lead villain role, the pirate Blackbeard.

The original story, known as Pan, is based on the screenplay by Jason Fuchs and is produced by Greg Berlanti. The story will serve as an origin story about an orphan taken into the world of Neverland where he becomes a hero to the natives by leading a revolt against the pirates who terrorize them. While Blackbeard would be the antagonist, Hook would still appear in the film as Pan’s ally before turning bad. (Reportedly, Ryan Gosling has already passed on the role of Hook.)

According to a report from Variety, the studio was initially looking to Javier Bardem to play the villainous pirate however he ended up passing on the role.

The studio has also begun an open casting to find a young new actor to play the title role as well as looking for an actress to play his love interest Tiger Lily.

Pan is already scheduled for a release date of June 26, 2015.

Showrunner Scott Gimple Talks About What’s Next on The Walking Dead

Walking Dead

If you haven’t seen the mid-season finale of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” you REALLY should. Like right now. If you don’t, fair warning, there are spoilers below.

Fans who have read the comic book series that the AMC show is based on where probably not surprised by the shocking mid-season finale. The prison has been overrun and the newly born Judith is missing. Things. Are. Rough. According to showrunner, Scott Gimple, things are not going to be looking up anytime soon.

“It’s going to hit [Rick] in a way that we haven’t seen before,” Gimple told TV Guide. “If it’s just the two of them, [Carl is] going to have to step up quite a bit because circumstances are wildly different and a lot will depend on him in terms of them just surviving. They don’t have an awesome, dual-layer fence and brick buildings to hide behind. They’re out in the world.”

“The Walking Dead” Season 4 can not return fast enough. It will return to AMC on February 9, 2014.
