Marvel’s Deadpool Opens to Record $12.7 Million

deadpooltestfootage-main

The highly anticipated Deadpool Marvel film finally hit theaters last week and it has payed off big time! The R-rated superhero movie grossed $12.7 million Thursday night, giving it the biggest preview number ever for an R-rated film and the biggest of all time for the month of February, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The title was previously held by The Hangover Part II for highest grossing R-rated Thursday opening ($10.4 million), launching over Memorial Day weekend in 2011, followed by Fifty Shades of Grey ($8.6 million) last year.

Deadpool even bested previous Marvel records held by Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($10.2 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy ($11.2 million).

It is only going to go up from there as it caps off Valentine’s Day weekend.

Avengers: Infinity War Will Feature 67 Marvel Characters

Infinity-Wars-04

According to the Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is about to expand even further in one quick burst.

According to the duo, the next Avengers film is going to see a staggering 67 Marvel characters appearing. How that is happening, is sort of unclear at the moment as the studio and directors are keeping relatively quiet. But they did speak out at the Wizard World New Orleans comic con hinting at a few details for the Infinity Wars story arc.

Turns out the character count reveal was actual a misstep. During their panel Joe dropped the bomb on fans, after his brother Anthony mistakenly referred to Peggy Carter — S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founder and Agent Carter’s central character — as Sharon Carter. Joe backtracked saying,

“We have so many characters we’re dealing with. We’re breaking ground on Avengers: Infinity War. We have a board with 67 characters on it. You have to forgive him.”

What is also interesting is WHO these characters could be. I mean you take away all the characters we already know between the movies, “Agents of Shield,” “Agent Carter,” and all the Netflix Marvel shows, and there is still a HUGE number of Marvel characters to account for.

But as many fans were quick to point out, the Russo brothers did not say specify that they were all superheroes or villians and we could merely be dealing with the general cast. Lets hope for the former.

Part one and two of Avengers: Infinity War are scheduled for release on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019, respectively.

Watch the First Trailer for Captain America: Civil War!

After months of waiting, we finally have the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War and boy, does it pack a punch to the heart. Iron Man and the Cap are no longer on friendly terms in the newest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Steve Rogers has lost all faith in the government after discovering the corrupt agency S.H.I.E.L.D. has become and Tony Stark recklessly unleashed Ultron upon the world, is in favor of the act. Now Stark is willing to go head-to-head with Captain America, who is opposed to the act, to ensure that he complies with the government accord. Aside from opposing such an act, Rogers also wants to protect his friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) who was brainwashed into becoming the evil Winter Soldier.

Things are going to get rough.

Captain America: Civil War is based on the 2006-07 seven-part limited Marvel crossover series written by Mark Millar. The series, also named Civil War, pitted Marvel characters against one another, leaving them to choose between Iron Man and Captain America with the tagline, “Whose side are you on?” The film was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed The Winter Soldier. The script was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The film will also see the return of Avengers as well as the appearance of new Marvel characters including Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), also includes other characters from the Marvel Universe including Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, Scarlett Witch, Peter Parker and Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther.

Captain America: Civil War is scheduled to hit theaters May 6, 2016. Watch the new trailer below:

avengers

According to a report from Deadline, Marvel Studios is in the process of wooing Mark Ruffalo to bring the Hulk back in the upcoming film, Thor: Ragnarok. Rumors about the return of Hulk and Ruffalo’s involvement have been churning around the mill for weeks and might possibly be true considering the actor has been listed under the cast list for the film on Imdb.

The script for the film will be written by Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World), Craig Kyle and Thor comic book writers Jack Kirby, Stan Lee and Larry Lieber. The film will be directed by Taika Waititi (Green Lantern) and produced by Kevin Feige.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released Nov. 3, 2017.

Ant Man Sequel’s 2018 Release Pushes Captain Marvel to 2019

marvel-studios-logo2

Earlier this month, Marvel announced that Ant-Man would be getting a sequel by way of Ant-Man and the Wasp and it will be hitting theaters in 2018. However, this new addition to Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe means pushing back the Captain Marvel film to 2019.

This is not the first time that Phase 3 has been shifted and it is started to feel like we can’t believe anything in that schedule. The first shift occurred when Sony’s Spider-Man deal with Marvel was announced. That announcement means that Black Panther will move from a July 6, 2018 to a Feb. 16, 2018 release and now Captain Marvel will be released on March 8, 2019 rather than Nov. 2, 2018.

Marvel has also added three untitled films for 2020 on May 1, July 10 and Nov. 6.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be released July 6, 2018. Ant-Man will next appear in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

We all know a Marvel film is going to be the big hit this summer but will it be “Ant-Man” or “Age of Ultron?” Many are overlooking “Ant-Man” with such larger titles on the way but thanks to a new trailer released last week, we know how awesome the film is going to be.

The film was directed by Peyton Reed, with a screenplay written by Adam McKay and Paul Rudd. It stars Rudd in the titular role alongside Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, Jordi Mollà, and Michael Douglas. In Ant-Man, Lang must help defend Dr. Pym’s Ant-Man technology and plot a heist with worldwide ramifications.

“Ant-Man” will hit theaters on July 17. It is the 12th addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Catch the full trailer for Marvel’s Ant-Man in the video above. And make sure to check out the movie when it hits theaters later this summer.

Captain America: Civil War is a very highly anticipated addition to The Marvel Cinematic Universe. The next installment in the “Captain America” saga for Marvel Studios, Captain America: Civil War, has added Daniel Bruhl in a mystery role.

Bruhl has previously starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, Bill Condon’s The Fifth Estate and, opposite Marvel Cinematic Universe star Chris Hemsworth, Ron Howard’s Rush.

His role in the film will likely be announced within the next few months.

Chris Evans returns in the starring role for the third Captain America film for the Marvel Cinematic universe alone side Robert Downey, Jr. (reprising his role as Tony Stark) and the recently revealed Chadwick Boseman (debuting as the Black Panther).

Marvel President Kevin Feige said,

“With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes.”
