Benicio Del Toro May Join “Inherent Vice” Adaptation

The Wrap has reported that Benicio Del Toro may be eyeing a role in the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson film, a big screen adaptation of the novel, “Inherent Vice.” The novel comes from author Thomas Pynchon and was published in 2009.
Del Toro most recently starred in Oliver Stone’s Savages, would star opposite Joaquin Phoenix, playing an unlicensed attorney to the Doc Sportello character. Continue reading

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Adaptation Back On With Lily Collins In Lead Role

It was reported last year that the alternative/parody novel, “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” was set to become a film. However, little news had been released since then and it appeared the project was halted. The novel, written by Seth Grahame-Smith, was also responsible for the novel and film adaptation, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Now, Variety is reporting that the film adaptation is back on and actress Lily Collins is attached to play the lead role with Burr Steers directing. Continue reading

James Franco To Star and Direct The Garden of Last Days

Deadline has reported that James Franco has signed on to direct and star the feature film adaptation of the novel, “The Garden of Last Days.” The novel was written by Andre Dubus III and was published in 2008. Hanna Weg, who provides the screenplay to The Garden of Last Days, will also produce alongside Gerard Butler, Danielle Robinson and Alan Siegel.

Franco, who most recently starred in both Oz The Great and Powerful and Spring Breakers, will screen his directorial effort As I Lay Dying, based on the William Faulkner tome, at the Cannes Film Festival. Continue reading

Reliance Entertainment Options Graceling Adaptation

Reliance Entertainment, an India-based company, in partnership with Kintop Pictures, has officially acquired the film rights to Kristin Cashore’s bestselling, award-winning young adult fantasy novel, “Graceling.” Piers Ashworth, most known for his work on Nostradamus, has signed on to write the script for the adaptation.  Continue reading

Summit Entertainment Acquires William Paul Young’s The Shack

The best-selling novel from William Paul Young called, “The Shack” has been optioned by Summit Entertainment. The novel was originally published out of a garage by Brad Cummings and Wayne Jacobsen but has since garnered a huge fan base. First published in 2007, “The Shack” has to date sold over 18 million copies worldwide, 10 million in the United States, and over 8 million internationally. The novel has been on the New York Times Best Seller list for over 180 consecutive weeks, topping the list at #1 for 52 of them, and has also been on the USA Today Top 150 List for 188 weeks. Ranked by Nielsen as the Top Best-Selling Book of 2008 and 2nd Best-Selling Book of 2009, “The Shack” has been featured in national profiles as diverse as NewsweekTIMEPeople, and The New York Times. Comic Book “Rachel Rising” To Be Adapted For Television

Terry Moore’s horror comic book, “Rachel Rising,” has been optioned for the small screen according to The Hollywood Reporter. The rights for the comic book were bought by Alcon Television Group who will be working with property for a television development. Alcon is currently looking for a showrunner to helm the project as well as a network for the show to call home. Exorcism Diaries To Be Adapted By Barbara Marshall

It was announced today that Summit Entertainment has officially hired on Barbara Marshall to write the adaptation for Exorcism Diaries. The project, which was initially to be written by Jay Baruchel. It is based on the book “The Real Story Behind the Exorcist: A Study of the Haunted Boy and Other True-Life Horror Legends from Around the Nation’s Capital,” written by  Mark Opsasnick.  Continue reading

Catherine Hardwicke to Direct The Age of Miracles

Karen Thompson Walker’s debut novel, “The Age of Miracles” is about to be adapted for the big screen. Seth Lochhead, most known for his work on Hanna, has adapted the screenplay.
