APRIL 6. Guys, we just have to make it to April 6. HBO has officially announced the return of “Game of Thrones” to take place on, you guessed it, April 6 with the season 4 premiere. The first trailer will air this Sunday at 8:58 p.m. ET before “True Detective,” but you can get five early teases below.

Members of the ensemble cast includes Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington, Natalie Dormer, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner. However, season 4 will also see several new stars join the cast for the season.

The executive producers are David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield, and co-executive producers are Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin.

Season 4 will be based on the second half of the novel, “A Storm of Swords.” The book is the third in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series written by George R.R. Martin.

To get you even more excited, as if that was possible, HBO has released 5 Vines teasing the official debut of the trailer this weekend. I am not sure why they couldn’t just release the trailer considering all the effort they put into release vines but oh well. You can watch them below!

Game of Thrones Most Pirated TV Show of 2013

GameOfThrones_20110412171451

If there is anything I know for sure, it is that HBO and AMC make some DAMN fine television shows. HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and AMC’s “Breaking Bad” are the two most downloaded and pirated shows of 2013.

The season 3 finale of “Game of Thrones” was downloaded 5.9 million times, most within one week after it aired in June. This is the second year in a row that it takes the top spot. The series finale for “Breaking Bad” which set several ratings records as well, was downloaded 4.2 million times.

Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes this summer quipped that widespread piracy of “Game of Thrones” was “better than an Emmy,” and said HBO has been dealing with theft of its content for years. “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan said in a BBC interview that piracy helped boost the show’s “brand awareness,” while also acknowledging it was a problem.

However, Gale Anne Hurd, the executive producer of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” vehemently disagrees.

“There’s a mistaken belief by many of my peers that piracy is somehow good, that viewers will develop a habit to pay for it,” Hurd said. “I’m not sure they really understand other than anecdotal evidence that their ratings go up that the people who pirate are not then going to choose legal downloads or legal viewing in the future.”

The piracy figures tracked by TorrentFreak include only files downloaded via BitTorrent’s file-sharing protocol, excluding illegal sharing on cyberlocker and streaming sites.

True Blood Will End After Season 7

true-blood-logo2

Honestly, I have a love/hate relationship with this series. HBO started off with an amazing hit series that for several seasons was pure gold. However, it has gotten out of hand and I think its classy death after season 7 will be a mercy killing.

“True Blood” will officially end in 2014 according to Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. The final season will consist of 10 episodes and will begin next summer.  Continue reading

What Happens When Game Of Thrones Catches Up With The Books

A-Song-of-Ice-and-Fire-Volumes-1-5-Box-Set

George R.R. Martin, the writer of the novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, is acutely aware of fans worries that the HBO show based on the novels could catch up to his unfinished series. Frankly, we are all screaming, “write faster!” The worries are real however. ASOIAF still has two books remaining to be written with no release date in site for the 6th book and considering how long it took him to churn out the first 5 books, fans already know the wait is long and grueling. First Poster for True Blood Season 6 Released

truebloodposter6small

HBO has officially released the new poster for the upcoming 6th season of their hit series, “True Blood.”

Season 6 will pick up where season 5 left off with the creation of “Billith.” In the finale of season 5, Bill, effectively brainwashed by the ideals of the Authority, drinks the blood of Lillith, faces the “true death,” and rises a more powerful vampire than before. The new poster possibly references what is to come with its tagline which reads, “No One Lives Forever.” It is no secret that Billith is incredibly dangerous at this point and whether or not the vampire population will remain at relative peace with humans will surely be a major season plot after the events of season 5.  Continue reading

Drink Like A Westerosi With Stark Raving Wine: The Perfect Game of Thrones Wine Pairing – Review

IMG_1903

If you watch even just one episode of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” you will notice at least one thing. LOTS and lots of wine. A staple among the characters of George R.R. Martin’s world, wine seems to seep through every scene. Now, fans (21 years old or over, of course) can drink like their favorite characters with Stark Raving wines.

I watch “Game of Thrones” pretty religiously every week and was excited to get the chance to try out a new wine that would fit perfectly with my Sunday night tradition. The Stark Raving wine line comes in four different and unique wines. A white, a red, a Cabernet, and a malbec. Superficially, I absolutely LOVE the bottle design for these wines. They each feature a vintage steampunk-eaque design that looks cool and enticing. Seeing this at a wine store, I would immediately be interested.

The White Wine

Like Sansa Stark, the white wine is sweet yet bold. It has a fruity and juicy taste that reminds you of those warm summer nights. The white wine is a blend of chardonnay, muscat, malvasia bianco. Like Sansa, the white may seem like a one dimensionally sweet, however, with each sip, the complexity reveals itself more.

This one was my favorite of the Stark Raving wines. I loved the relaxed mixture and overall fruit-infused taste. It is recommended to this wine chilled which gives it an even sweeter and refreshing taste.

The Red Wine

Like Arya Stark, the red wine is filled with a big and bold personality. If there is anything we know about Arya, it is that she is both strong and fearless and this wine perfectly encapsulates her never giving up attitude. This dark red wine is rich in flavor being a blend of  jammy fruit like dark bing cherries and ripe plums along with  tannat, zin, merlot, cab sauv, and petit sirah.

I personally really enjoyed this wine as the after taste of each sip of filled with a sweet fruit flavor that made me want to go back for more.

STARK RAVING RED-RET

The Cab

This Cabernet Sauvignon is the perfect pairing for the Robb Stark of the family. It is both extremely forward and little spicy. It is a mix of ripe berries balanced by medium tannins giving it one of the boldest tastes of all. Whether he is on his quest to conquer the North or dealing with those who oppose him and his new wife, Robb would find a perfect wine companion in this Cabernet.

I found the Cabernet to be one of the strongest of the four wines. It has a very distinct taste and is great for the seasoned wine drinkers like the Lannisters.

The Malbec

Similarly to Catelyn Stark, the malbec wine is both dark and spicy. While Catelyn is not afraid to do or say what she thinks is right, even when it lands her in jail at the request of her own son. Her feisty personality and dark character flaws finds a natural partnership with the malbec of Stark Raving wines. The medium bodied wine is a mixture of  Dark cherries and smoky bacon creating a unique taste fit for the Starks of Winterfell. There is not doubt that if Ned was alive, he would be enjoying this wine next to the hearth or at dinner with Catelyn.

The malbec has one of the more interesting tastes of all four wines. It took a few sips before I decided I liked it and from there it grew on me. This wine would be perfect for those relaxing evenings watching “Game of Thrones,” with friends or solo.

Stark Raving Wines is the perfect pairing for “Game of Thrones.” It can bring you closer to the world of Westeros and Essos as you drink alongside your favorite characters, not to mention would make a great addition to any party with friends and family.

“They generously spill wine throughout the show – so it seems natural to join them in celebration as viewers wind down from their weekends on Sunday nights.”

You can learn about where to buy your own bottle of Stark Raving wine by visiting their official website.

True-Blood-Season-6

The popular HBO series is about to go into its highly anticipated 6th season. HBO has officially released two behind the scenes promos for the upcoming season which premieres June 16th. The season will have an abbreviated run of ten episodes, as opposed to the usual twelve, partially to accommodate the pregnancy of lead actor Anna Paquin, who is married to costar Stephen Moyer, as well as due to economic factors. Game Of Thrones Renewed For Fourth Season

fire-blood-thrones

At this point I don’t know why HBO doesn’t just renew the series until the very end of the books. They KNOW it will continue to be popular but that it will also have a definite ending at the end of the book series. Either way, HBO has officially renewed the series for a fourth season only a few days after the premiere of the 3rd season on March 31st.  Continue reading

Game of Thrones: The Mobile Game Edition

If you are anxiously awaiting the new season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” you are not alone. However, there is a new mobile app that might help make the wait a little easier to bear. “A World of Ice and Fire” is a brand new iPhone and iPad app that helps fans of the book and television series keep track of the ever mounting list of characters, locations, and Houses throughout the series.

Although the app uses the book for references rather than the television series, fans of the “Game of Thrones” should have no trouble using the app.

The app is free, but without buying content the app only gives basic information on some characters and places. for $1.99, you can gain access to more information about the characters for the first book  and $0.99 for each subsequent novel or $4.99 for everything in the app. The $4.99 purchase saves $1 over buying the pack individually. After buying the “InfoPacks” users can tell the app where they read to in the series so they can avoid any spoilers.

The app seems to be most helpful to those reading the series as the ever growing character list can get confusing as well as the different Houses and the locations of Essos and Westeros.  The maps will help readers find where the characters are in relation to one another, which is especially useful when war breaks out in the realm.

A World of Ice and Fire is currently available for iPhone and iPad, though Mashable says versions of the app are coming for Android and Nook tablets sometime in the future.
