Why are you interested in this adaptation?

I actually have a special place in my heart for the Three Musketeers in all iterations. The book was the first piece of “literature” that I read at I think 10 or 11, when I had run through all the SFF in my school’s library and decided to start edumucating myself by reading some of the classics. I am fairly sure it was an abridged version—this is based on my memory of finding the story really easy to read and very fast-paced, which, having suffered through an unabridged version of Count of Monte Cristo I know that Dumas’ writing really isn’t—and I loved it. We’re about a month away from David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo arriving in theaters to stomp out any and all Christmas spirit you might have, but there hasn’t been a whole lot of attention giving to Rooney Mara’s Lisbeth Salander… until now.
Tim Burton is a master of twisted tales and he might be bringing another one to the big screen if he gets a chance to develop Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, which features children that are slightly more than ‘peculiar.’
Stephen King fans are in for a special treat, with A&E offering up a unique feature in preparation for December’s four-hour Bag of Bones miniseries that includes (in typical King style) a nod to other works from the King of horror and a few spooky photos to help get you in the mood for a ghost story.
This was inspired partly by my love of websites that review bad movies. I don’t particularly want to watch the actual films, but I enjoy reading reviews of them. I was thinking of people like Rutger Hauer, who have long careers and are known, yet not considered famous. I wonder if they feel like failures compared to big name actors, or successes compared to the majority of actors who don’t get much work at all. Continue reading
