World-of-Warcraft-Movie-Teaser-Revealed-During-Comic-Con-369762-2

IGN recently talked with actor Colin Farrell about the upcoming big screen adaptation of the video game, “Warcraft.” Farrell has been rumored to be attached to the project which appears to be finally moving forward. The Warcraft movie supposedly has four lead characters and Farrell is just one of the names rumored to be attached. Paula Patton and “Vikings” star Travis Fimmel are also rumored to be in negotiations for the film which will center on Anduin Lothar versus Durotan, Human and Orc heroes from the original real-time strategy games. The movie will also be focused largely in the Eastern Kingdoms of Azeroth.

IGN asked him about the status of production for the film and Farrell confirmed that the script is pretty impressive.

“Don’t know what’s happening, man. I read the script, if that’s any use to you, and it’s amazing….Duncan was cool. I sat with Duncan for awhile and read the script, loved the script, and we was as cool as can be. I don’t know what’s happening with the film. I don’t know where they are in the process…It’s just a world that I never explored — and it’s a really big and fantastical world. I can’t imagine what he, being as visually gifted as he is, Duncan, and what he did on Moon with, like, a dime, I can’t imagine what he’d do with this Warcraft.”

However, Farrell could not confirm what his role could be in the film.

“Can I? I probably shouldn’t. I don’t even know, actually, I’ll just say that! I don’t even know. We were just talking, and Duncan just said, “There might be something in it for you!” And I said, “Catering?” [Laughs]”

The Warcraft Movie is set to be directed by Duncan Jones with Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni producing for Legendary along with Blizzard and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner. Charles Leavitt wrote the script.

The release date is currently set for December 18, 2015.

This project should not be confused with the similarly themed “origin story” film that is currently in the works at Columbia Pictures and Neverland.

Disney Teams With William Goldman on “Princess Bride: The Musical”

the-princess-bride-poster

A new musical is in the works following one the greatest love stories ever told: The Princess Bride. The iconic 1987 film was based on the novel of the same name written by William Golding in 1973. A new deal between Disney and Goldman has the project finally moving forward to musical territory.

The Princess Bride a framed tales. Told by a kindly old man to his ailing grandson, it spins a comic tale of love and adventure about Buttercup, a young beauty reluctantly engaged to the kingdom of Florin’s evil prince but kidnapped on the eve of their wedding. She is ultimately rescued by her farmboy sweetheart Westley, aided by a giant and a Spanish master swordsman.

The film starred Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn, Andre the Giant, Billy Crystal and Peter Falk. It was produced by Andrew Scheinman and Reiner, and executive produced by Norman Lear.

The stage version of the love story was proposed years ago but was cancelled after several disagreements. Goldman collaborated on that project with Adam Guettel, the Tony-winning composer of The Light in the Piazza. But while much of the score was completed, development was halted over a financial dispute.Currently, it seems like the project is finally making headway.

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said,

“My involvement in The Princess Bride goes back to 1987 and it has always been close to my heart. For all those years and a few more, I’ve been friends with the brilliant Bill Goldman, and to now have a stage production of this film in development at Disney is honestly a dream come true. It couldn’t be in better hands than those of the experienced Disney Theatrical team led by Tom Schumacher.”

No timeline has yet been announced.

Justice League

Adam Driver Rumored for Dick Grayson Role in Batman vs. Superman

Justice League

Fans are incredibly curious about what to expect out of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs. Superman. Currently rumors are swirling that Adam Driver is the frontrunner  for the role of Dick Grayson in the feature. Grayson is known best as Bruce Wayne’s young ward and sidekick masked crimefighter Robin (and later Nightwing.)

Driver is most known for starring on the HBO series, “Girls.” He was also seen in the films Lincoln and Frances Ha. He can next be seen in Joel and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis, set to open in theaters December 13. His casting rumor is on the heels of news that three actresses are also testing for the rumored role of Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman.

Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. There is no confirmed reveal of what the film’s exact storyline will be. Also a full cast list has not been released.

Personally, I would cast Joseph Gordon Levitt as Nightwing as he had his perfect opening for the role at the end of The Dark Knight Rises. What a missed opportunity.

The highly anticipated film hits theaters on July 17, 2015.
