Avengers: Infinity War Will Feature 67 Marvel Characters

Infinity-Wars-04

According to the Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is about to expand even further in one quick burst.

According to the duo, the next Avengers film is going to see a staggering 67 Marvel characters appearing. How that is happening, is sort of unclear at the moment as the studio and directors are keeping relatively quiet. But they did speak out at the Wizard World New Orleans comic con hinting at a few details for the Infinity Wars story arc.

Turns out the character count reveal was actual a misstep. During their panel Joe dropped the bomb on fans, after his brother Anthony mistakenly referred to Peggy Carter — S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founder and Agent Carter’s central character — as Sharon Carter. Joe backtracked saying,

“We have so many characters we’re dealing with. We’re breaking ground on Avengers: Infinity War. We have a board with 67 characters on it. You have to forgive him.”

What is also interesting is WHO these characters could be. I mean you take away all the characters we already know between the movies, “Agents of Shield,” “Agent Carter,” and all the Netflix Marvel shows, and there is still a HUGE number of Marvel characters to account for.

But as many fans were quick to point out, the Russo brothers did not say specify that they were all superheroes or villians and we could merely be dealing with the general cast. Lets hope for the former.

Part one and two of Avengers: Infinity War are scheduled for release on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019, respectively.

Ex-Machina Director Alex Garland to Direct Female-Led Annihilation

Annihilation

The director behind the brilliant science fiction film, Ex Machina, is making his way to another film! Alex Garland is helming Paramount’s latest–and all female led–science fiction thriller, Annihilation.

Annihilation is based on the Jeff VanderMeer’s award winning novel. It follows a team of four who cross into uninhabited land known as Area X. Centering on a biologist, anthropologist, psychologist and a surveyor, the movie follows members of a 12th expedition as they face the unknown and the disappearances, suicides, aggressive cancers and mental traumas experienced by crew from 11 previous explorations. Annihilation is the first book in Vandermeer’s Southern Reach Trilogy.

The movie will mark Garland’s second directorial effort after Ex-Machina, and has already attached several big names to the project. The leading cast will feature a talented and diverse crop of actresses, including Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, Golden Globe-winner Gina Rodriguez andCreed star Tessa Thompson.

This film marks only the second time that Garland serves as director but he impressed audiences and critics everywhere with his first attempt and hopes are high for his sophomore effort. Additionally, his credits include, writer for 28 Days Later and author of The Beach.

The movie is slated to be released in 2017.

First Trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Debuts

Fantastic-Beasts-logo1-700x473-532x360

The “Harry Potter” spin off,  Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, released the first trailer and I have to admit, it looks pretty intriguing.

The film takes place in 1920s New York, 70 years before Harry reads magizoologist Newt Scamander’s book of the same name at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them follows Newt Scamander as he searches for fantastical beasts and unusual creatures while telling the story of an American community who must deal with a judgmental and prejudiced anti-magic society called the New Salem Philanthropic Society. The sinister group, led by Mary Lou (Samantha Morton), will go to great lengths to kill any and all witches and wizards.

Eddie Redmayne, who plays Newt, will be joined by Carmen Ejogo, Gemma Chan and Jon Voight, as well as Colin Farrell and Ezra Miller.

The film, which will be directed by David Yates, marks the screenwriting debut of Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters Nov. 18, 2016. You can watch the trailer below.

Watch the First Trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse

possible-spoiler-alert-what-to-expect-in-x-men-apocalypse-696485

A brand new trailer has been released for the next installment of the “X-Men” film franchise. X-Men: Apocalpyse from Bryan Singer is almost here but in the mean time check out the trailer featuring the first look at several characters including Jubilee and her iconic look from the animated series.

We also see Storm with a new bad ass style alongside Psylocke, Archangel, Nightcrawler and a young Jean Grey and Scott Summers (Cyclops) make short cameos as well. We even get a small glimpse at Apocalypse and finally a bald Professor Xavier!

In this upcoming film we are apparently moving closer and closer to the timelines of Days of Future Past and the original X-Men titles merging, so we’ll probably see some of the more familiar X-Men appear.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be landing in theaters May 27, 2016. Check out the brand new trailer below:

Watch the First Trailer for Captain America: Civil War!

After months of waiting, we finally have the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War and boy, does it pack a punch to the heart. Iron Man and the Cap are no longer on friendly terms in the newest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Steve Rogers has lost all faith in the government after discovering the corrupt agency S.H.I.E.L.D. has become and Tony Stark recklessly unleashed Ultron upon the world, is in favor of the act. Now Stark is willing to go head-to-head with Captain America, who is opposed to the act, to ensure that he complies with the government accord. Aside from opposing such an act, Rogers also wants to protect his friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) who was brainwashed into becoming the evil Winter Soldier.

Things are going to get rough.

Captain America: Civil War is based on the 2006-07 seven-part limited Marvel crossover series written by Mark Millar. The series, also named Civil War, pitted Marvel characters against one another, leaving them to choose between Iron Man and Captain America with the tagline, “Whose side are you on?” The film was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed The Winter Soldier. The script was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The film will also see the return of Avengers as well as the appearance of new Marvel characters including Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), also includes other characters from the Marvel Universe including Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, Scarlett Witch, Peter Parker and Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther.

Watch the First Look at Alice Through the Looking Glass

AliceThroughTheLookingGlass2

For some reason, Disney has given the sequel to “Alice in Wonderland” a go and now we have the first official trailer for the film titled “Alice Through the Looking Glass.”

This new teaser shows Alice traveling back in time to help the Mad Hatter. There are not many details about the plot other than the cast is returning and there is time travel.

Tim Burton, who directed the first film, is a producer, with James Bobin directing this time around. Returning to the cast are Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter along with the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall. Rhys Ifans and Sacha Baron Cohen have also joined for the sequel. Cohen looks to have a particularly important role as the personification of “Time” via  a half-clock, half-human who has the ability to travel back and forth through different time periods with a special skill secreted in a gold-colored chromosphere.

Alice Through the Looking Glass is out May 27, 2016. You can watch the trailer below:
