Samuel L. Jackson Says Elizabeth Olsen is The Scarlet Witch

According to actor Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, the more talented of the Olsens, is set to play the Scarlet With in the upcoming Avengers sequel. Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios have not officially confirmed the casting but during an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Jackson confirmed Olsen had indeed secured the role.  Continue reading

The Mark Gordon Company and The C.S. Lewis Company are partnering up to bring another “Chronicles of Narnia” film to the big screen. “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair” will be adapted as the fourth film in the franchise. Within the novel series, “The Silver Chair” is the fourth published of seven (it is volume six in recent editions, which are sequenced according to Narnia history.) Continue reading

Bryce Dallas Howard Joins Jurassic World

Christoph Waltz to Menace Alexander Skarsgard’s Tarzan

David Yates and his upcoming adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel, “Tarzan of the Apes” has officially hired on Christoph Waltz for the lead villain role. Waltz, also known as the older gentleman who I am kind of in love with and I imagine us living in a small cottage together in Switzerland while he whispers sweet nothings in broken english, will appear opposite of Alexander Skarsgard in the adaptation. Jennifer Lawrence and Gary Ross Head to “East of Eden” and “Burial Rights”

Jennifer Lawrence, also known as your imaginary best friend, and her previous “Hunger Games” director Gary Ross, have signed on to the big screen adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel, “East of Eden.” Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer are developing the adaptation with plans for Lawrence to shoot following production on the two-film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.

Sony Pictures Adapting “The Finisher”

Sony Pictures have officially optioned the film rights to the upcoming novel from David Baldacci. The fantasy novel entitled, “The Finisher” was picked up by Sony with Matt Tolmach attached to produce. The novel has not yet been published and won’t hit shelves until March 4th, 2014.

John Pogue to Helm Ciudad Adaptation

3073Sierra Pictures had officially announced their plans to finance and produce the big screen adaptation of “Ciudad.” The film will be adapted from the upcoming Oni Press graphic novel by Captain America: The Winter Soldier helmers Joe and Anthony Russo and Ande Parks and Fernando Leon. In addition, the company has announced that  John Pogue is attached to direct with Joe Russo himself providing the adapted screenplay.

Universal Finds Writer For Demonologist Adaptation

Universal Pictures and ImageMovers have officially hired Jonathan Herman to write the film adaptation of “The Demonologist.” The film is based on the novel of the same name written by Andrew Pyper and was published early in 2013. Robert Schenkkan was originally tapped to pen the script and Herman will work on a new draft. Herman is most known for writing the draft for “The Birds” remake at Platinum Dunes.
