Adam Driver Denies Nightwing Rumors

batman_vs_superman

Last week rumors were swirling that “Girls” star, Adam Driver, was being looked at for the role of Dick Grayson in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, tentatively titled, Batman vs. Superman. However, during a recent interview with Collider, Driver denies the rumors saying that he hadn’t heard anything in regards to the role.

When asked if there was any truth to the rumors, Driver said,

“No. Not that I know of, no. If you find out, let me know, then I’ll know.”

Driver also added how nice it was that people were thinking he deserved the part.

“That’s like intensely flattering as you can imagine. I mean, it’s Batman and Superman, who doesn’t want to be involved in something not only of that scale but of who those characters are. That’s an incredible world to be able to be in for a bit. Like who wouldn’t want to do that?”

The original story, which was posted on TheWrap, mentioned that two other actors might be in the mix for the role as well. I hope that this is true because it allows me to pretend that Joseph Gordon Levitt might still be considered for the role. (I know that isn’t the case, but I keep dreaming.)

Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne, the Zack Snyder-directed film will hit theaters on July 17, 2015.

The CW’s “The Flash” Will Now Receive Traditional Pilot

Since the incredible success of “Arrow,” The CW has decided to continue their foray into superhero TV with The Flash. The announcement of the new series was revealed a few months ago but it was originally planned to begin as a “backdoor pilot” on their hit series “Arrow,” where actor Grant Gustin would appear as Barry Allen before spinning off into his own TV series. However, Deadline is reporting that The Flash will now be getting a traditional pilot rather than becoming a spin-off.

“Arrow” creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg along with Geoff Johns are still signed on to write the pilot episode while pilot director David Nutter remains at the helm. Gustin will first appear as Barry Allen in the eighth episode of “Arrow” which is titled “The Scientist.” Set to air December 4th, the episode is described as follows:

“A seemingly impossible robbery at Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division brings Central City police scientist Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) to town.  Citing a similar case back home, Barry offers to help Oliver and team with the investigation.  Oliver senses there is more to Barry than meets the eye, but he’s distracted by the similarities between this current case and something that happened on the island.  Meanwhile, Felicity takes a liking to Barry, which doesn’t go unnoticed by Oliver.  Sin (guest star Bex Taylor-Klaus) asks Roy for help when a friend of hers goes missing.  Roy is surprised when Thea not only encourages him to help, but joins the search.  Unfortunately, Sin’s friend is connected to Brother Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro), and their search ultimately gets one of them seriously injured.”

No word about when the series will air but it is rumored to be planned with a midseason premiere.

Cinemax Developing Series Based on Robert Kirkman’s Outcast

Cinemax has officially confirmed that they are adapting Robert Kirkman’s upcoming comic series “Outcast” as a television drama. Kirkman will serve as Executive Producer alongside David Alpert of Circle of Confusion. The comic series is set to debut in 2014 and will be written by Kirkman and drawn by Paul Azaceta.

The series follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.

Creator Robert Kirkman said,

“Despite the success of The Walking Dead, Outcast is only my second foray into the horror genre. I think Kyle Barnes is every bit as compelling as Rick Grimes and demonic possession is way scarier than zombies–so this is going to be fun. Starting a new project is like setting off on a long journey and I couldn’t ask for better travel companions than David Alpert and Sharon Tal Yguado and I’m thrilled to be a part of what Cinemax has planned for the next few years.”

Sharon Tal Yguado, Executive Vice President of Original Development and Scripted Programming at FIC, also added,

“At FIC, we’re committed to creating compelling, innovative television with A-List writers like Robert Kirkman, and with Cinemax we have a partner that is as passionate as we are about this very unique project. Outcast is unlike anything on television and has the potential to become another global phenomenon.”

There is no word yet on when the series will make its way to the small screen or who the network is looking at to headline the project.

Melissa Rosenberg to Write Marvel Studios’ Jessica Jones

marvel-studios-logo2

Deadline is reporting that Melissa Rosenberg, most known for screenwriting The Twilight Saga, will be in charge of writing the upcoming Marvel Studios adaptation of “Jessica Jones.” The female superhero first made an appearance in 2001’s Marvel MAX title “Alias.” Retroactively a former Avenger, Jones left the superhero life behind to run Alias Private Investigations. Although “Alias” ended after just 28 issues, Jones has since become a major character in the Marvel Universe.

The series will premiere on Netflix alongside “Daredevil,” “Luke Cage,” and “Iron Fist.” All four will build to a crossover miniseries titled, “The Defenders.” Each series is designed to take Netflix members deep into the gritty world of heroes and villains of Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Netflix has committed to a minimum of four, thirteen episodes series and the culminating mini-series event that reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.

Rosenberg will serve as both writer and executive producer on “Jessica Jones,” which is expected to be the second show to premiere, following “Daredevil.” Drew Goddard was also announced to be taking over the “Daredevil” series adaptation.

There is no word yet on who is being looked at to star in the project or an anticipated release date. Also whether or not the series will tie in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe is unconfirmed.

Elizabeth Olsen Confirms Scarlet Witch Role in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Elizabeth Olsen has officially confirmed with MTV that she is playing The Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. The news was confirmed last month via Twitter by Samuel L. Jackson, but this is the first time Olsen has spoken about the role.

In her interview with MTV, she spoke to the site about acting alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson once again, whom she just completed Godzilla with a few months ago. Johnson is set to play her character’s brother, also known as Quicksilver.

“We get to play husband and wife, and we get to play twin brother and sister,” she said. “It’s also fun because even though in ‘Godzilla’ we play husband and wife, we don’t have a lot of scenes together. I just love him. I love his family. I love his kids. I’m so excited we get to work with each other more and to actually work with each other. I think it’s going to be fun.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit theaters on May 1, 2015. Production is expect to begin in March 2014. The film is set to be scripted and directed by Joss Whedon and will see Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson reprising their roles from the first film, with Olsen, Taylor-Johnson and James Spader joining the cast in new roles.

Justice League

Adam Driver Rumored for Dick Grayson Role in Batman vs. Superman

Justice League

Fans are incredibly curious about what to expect out of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs. Superman. Currently rumors are swirling that Adam Driver is the frontrunner  for the role of Dick Grayson in the feature. Grayson is known best as Bruce Wayne’s young ward and sidekick masked crimefighter Robin (and later Nightwing.)

Driver is most known for starring on the HBO series, “Girls.” He was also seen in the films Lincoln and Frances Ha. He can next be seen in Joel and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis, set to open in theaters December 13. His casting rumor is on the heels of news that three actresses are also testing for the rumored role of Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman.

Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. There is no confirmed reveal of what the film’s exact storyline will be. Also a full cast list has not been released.

Personally, I would cast Joseph Gordon Levitt as Nightwing as he had his perfect opening for the role at the end of The Dark Knight Rises. What a missed opportunity.

The highly anticipated film hits theaters on July 17, 2015.

Netflix definitely knows what’s up. They know what their consumers want and how they want it delivered to their eyeballs. The company has officially announced their plans to work with Marvel to develop at least four original series exclusively for Netflix, followed by a miniseries for the streaming service. Marvel will develop series for “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist,” and “Luke Cage,” in that order.

All four shows will have a 12 episode run and will begin streaming in 2015. The plans will culminate with “The Defenders” miniseries event about a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.

Alan Fine, Marvel Entertainment president said in a statement, said,

“This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel’s brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty. This serialized epic expands the narrative possibilities of on-demand television and gives fans the flexibility to immerse themselves how and when they want in what’s sure to be a thrilling and engaging adventure.”

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos added

“Marvel’s movies, such as Iron Manand Marvel’s The Avengers, are huge favorites on our service around the world. Like Disney, Marvel is a known and loved brand that travels. With House of Cards and our other original series, we have pioneered new approaches to storytelling and to global distribution and we’re thrilled to be working with Disney and Marvel to take our brand of television to new levels with a creative project of this magnitude.”

The shows will be produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Television Studios. There is no word yet on if/how the new shows and miniseries will tie into the current franchise, The Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Comic Series Savage Brings Bigfoot Vs. Werewolves to the Big Screen

savage.hp_-618x400

According to a report from TheWrap, Image Comics is adapting its comic book series, “Savage,” into a film. What makes “Savage” enticing? Bigfoot vs. Werewolves. YES. The comic series was created by Jeff Frank. E. Thompson. Co-written by Frank, Dan Wickline and 30 Days of Night’s Steve Niles and with art by Mike Mayhew, the original comic series is described as follows:

“Peter is a shoe salesman desperate for a life transformation. Sam is a hunter of things that would scare the hell out of lesser men. These two collide in the middle of an epic battle between vicious werewolves and the legendary Bigfoot! And that’s just the beginning…”

James Cotten will director while John Adams of Pathbenders will produce. No screenwriter, cast or other talent have been released.

If there is anything that the movie world is missing it is films about werewolves doing something other than banging vampires. Adding Bigfoot to the mix is just a bonus. There is no word yet on who is being looked at to star in the film or an anticipated release date for the project.

Hopefully this project is more awesome and less like a Syfy original movie by the time of its completion.
