Game of Thrones Season 3 Pictures Released

Game of Thrones

For fantasy fans, their one true love, the best fantasy series on television, is returning. What can we expect from Game of Thrones, season three? Well, Peter Dinklage’s character, Tyrion Lannister, still bears a scar from his season two exploits. Rumor has it Daenerys may encounter new love. Now that has certainly perked my interest! Brynden Tully; Messandei, acted by the beautiful Nathalie Emmanuel; Orell, acted by Pirates of the Caribbean actor Mackenzie Crook; Jojen and Meera Reed and The Queen of Thorns are all new characters you’ll see on the set. Also, Ciarán Hinds of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, The Debt, and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance won the role of Mance Rayder, the Wildling “King-Beyond-The-Wall”. I’m really happy about that. Speaking of the set, we’d like to take you there now!

Dubrovnik in Croatia is where Game of Thrones, season three has been filming for over 90 days now. Members of the press were invited out to what passes for King’s Landing thanks to the wizards at HBO. That means we have photos. It’s always lovely to see characters in costume for the series, but what is especially interesting about this batch of images is that the scene being captured doesn’t come directly from any of George R.R. Martin’s books. HBO’s Game of Thrones is usually pretty faithful to the print series of novels. There must be good reason for the addition of something a bit original.

In the scene in question we witness Littlefinger, acted by Aidan Gillen, along with Sophie Turner’s Sansa Stark, Ros, acted by Esme Bianco, and Shae, portrayed by Sibel Kekilli, meeting at King’s Landing.

This particular scene aside, season three of Game of Thrones will follow the third book in the series, A Storm of Swords. It hits HBO on March 31, 2013. I know that seems ages from now, but you don’t get the kind of production quality and action-packed story lines as Game of Thrones is famous for simply overnight. If the wait is killing you, look into playing the RPG from Cyanide and Atius. It’s available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

But speaking of costumes, aren’t they as lovely as ever? I particularly like the teal and red gown. The sea also looks inviting in Croatia.

When last we encountered the world of Thrones, our dearest Jon was grappling with some killing he was practically forced into executing. He also sees where the wildings are amassing. Meanwhile, White Walkers are on the march and Tyrion has been told some unsettling things about his sister.

Not yet a fan of Game of Thrones? Now’s the time to get on board. Season two saw over 8 million viewers and 12 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

9 Scenes From Storm of Swords That Will Be Awesome On Screen

A Storm of Swords is the third novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. It is also going to be the basis for seasons 3 and 4 of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” So far the show has not let me down, and as long as they do these 9 scenes correctly, I’ll be happy.

The new season is still kind of far away, but the more news I hear and the more cast pictures I see, the more I anticipate the third season.

So here is a countdown of the 9 moments from SoS that I am most excited to see translated on screen.

::::MAJOR Spoilers Ahead::::

9: Daenerys obtains the Unsullied

I may be the first to admit, but I find the Dany storylines slightly boring. It’s mostly just her complaining to Jorah about her rightful throne and stumbling around Essos. Yeah, her dragons are fucking cool and her slight lesbianism with her handmaidens is hot but she is just… whiny.

However, the way she obtains her army, the Unsullied, was one of my favorite parts of her storyline in SoS. The idea of her giving up one of her children, her dragons for an army bewildered me till I realized her plan.

I think this scene is super important. Using her newly acquired army to sack the city and regain her dragon was clever and strong-willed. This is the first time in the series that I was able to see her as a leader and not as a disillusioned child. She was willing to not only raid the city, but also free the slaves. She is becoming stronger but is managing to hold on to her compassionate side, something most in Westeros can’t seem to do.

8: Jon Snow and Ygritte

I LOVE Jon Snow, and his hair. His beautiful hair. I’m also infinitely jealous of Ygritte (and Rose Leslie for that matter). So I live vicariously through the exploits of the lovers.

If you read any of the scenes between the two and your heart didn’t both ache with sadness and melt with love, then you are probably a robot.

The scenes are filled with hope and grief. Hope for the future of Jon Snow and his happiness yet grief over knowing his mindset. He knows he can’t stay with her, that he has to leave her even though every fiber of his being doesn’t want it.

Also, I want to run my fingers through his hair.

Yes, yes we would

7: Daenerys and Ser Jorah

I included this on the list because it is two books/seasons in the making. Dany needs to learn the truth about Ser Jorah. I mean, yeah, he loves her (creepily I might add) but he still betrayed her in the beginning and it is about time she knew about that.

I think Iain Glen is amazing so I am looking forward to him in this scene specifically. It is emotional moment for both characters and I can only imagine the sad puppy love look that will be all over Jorah’s face.

The Knight of the Friend-zoned

6: Shae’s betrayal

UGH. SHAE. I had such high hopes for her by the end of CoK and the second season. All those hopes were dashed in a two paragraph long structure. I’ve never gone so quickly to liking a character, to hating her, to wanting her dead.

When her betrayal of Tyrion was revealed, I wanted her dead instantly. I got some sort of smug satisfaction that this whore got what she deserved and that it was Tyion who did it.

Watching it will be sad, for sure, to see the hurt in Tyrion’s eye when he finds Shae in his father’s bed will kill me. But seeing that hurt become rage and power will be awesome.

Yeah, because you are a whore.

5: Joffrey’s death

Some people will say this needs to be higher. But hear me out. We ALL KNEW that his death was inevitable. You can argue that this is A Song of Ice and Fire, that we can expect all the characters to die, but Joffrey is different. Everyone wants him dead. Not just readers but characters throughout the series want him dead. His death had to happen. His death was essential to the safety of so many characters, and vital to moving the story forward.

BUT just because it was a necessity, doesn’t mean I, and fans everywhere, didn’t love seeing him die. Especially in such an ungraceful way. He doesn’t die valiantly in battle, rather he is poisoned and chokes to death in front of everyone at his wedding.

I have a feeling that the Internet and viewers everywhere will be cheering for this scene.

When someone who doesn’t watch the show asks me why I don’t care that he dies

4: Jaime losing his hand

There is SO much to the character of Jaime Lannister. Losing a hand for most would suck, yes, but losing his sword fighting hand for Jaime is a huge deal.  Jaime has said he is only truly alive when he is having sex and sword fighting.

I think this is one of the more important aspects of his characterization because it becomes the catalyst for his change to an honorable person. Jaime is one of the few characters that appear to be unredeemable but end up being probably one of the most honorable people in the series.

I’m also all for more of the Jaime and Brienne relationship.

It’s okay Jaime, I do too.

3: Jaime explaining the truth behind Kingslaying

I always enjoyed Jaime’s POV chapters. There is so much more to the character that he doesn’t let on to those around him. The view of Jaime Lannister is completely different compared to who he actually is.

Like Brienne doesn’t want to be called Wench, Jaime hates being called Kingslayer because he did what he did to save thousands of innocent lives. But what I am excited to see how they portray this revelation in the series. Will they have a flashback? Or will it just be an elegant soliloquy? It is a crucial moment in the life of Jaime that changes him forever and in that moment it is also vital to his relationship with Brienne.

He is also pretty dreamy himself…

2: The truth behind Petyr Baelish

I think we all knew from the beginning that Petyr was a fucking snake. But the extent of his abilities were not even partially realized until SoS. He has always been able to have his hands in business all over Westeros but it is revealed that his actions are what led to the crucial events of the entire series.

He convinced Lysa to murder her husband and blame it on Lannisters setting in motion the entire conflict gripping the world. He is the one who poisons and kills Joffrey, and he kills Lysa effectively taking control of the neutral territory of the Vale while holding Sansa Stark there.

I am looking really looking forward to any scene with Littlefinger in it but also primarily the climax of his relationship with Lysa as she goes crazy and culminates in death.

What a creep

1: THE RED WEDDING

OH MY GOD, THE RED WEDDING. I knew of this event before I even began reading SoS though I had no idea what happened. I only knew it would make me sad and angry, and boy did it ever. After finishing the scene, I literally threw the book down on the ground, covered it with a pillow and refused to pick it up for the rest of the night.

I was so traumatized by it that this is all I could say:

I’m not sure if this will be in Season 3 or Season 4 but either way, it is the paramount moment of the entire novel and series up to this point.

RRROOOOOBBBBBBBBBB, ARRRRGH.

‘Game of Thrones’ Wins Big at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Many would say creativity and fantasy work go hand in hand. HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones certainly proved as much last Saturday at the creative arts Emmy Awards.

The addictive series based on the works of George R. R. Martin lead the pack, receiving a total of six statuettes at the weekend ceremony. Somewhere, several dire wolves are howling with joy. This was more trophies than any other winning show took home. If you’re a fan, I know you’re not really surprised. These awards, by the way, were designed to recognize technical achievements and give honor in categories not mentioned in more main stream awards programs.

The biggest winner of the night; however, was the Game of Thrones network, HBO, which earned a whopping 17 creative arts Emmys. How did the other networks fare? Well, CBS garnered 13 wins, PBS gathered 11, Discovery won six times, NBC earned five, and ABC and the Cartoon Network both took home four trophies each. Fox won twice.

Game of ThronesA few of those categories Game of Thrones was recognized for were best special visual effects, outstanding costumes for a series, outstanding sound editing for a series, and outstanding art direction for a single-camera series. In that last category, Thrones actually tied Boardwalk Empire, but I suppose that was okay since both series belong to HBO.

Game of Thrones will being a drool-worthy third season beginning March 31st, 2013.

If you are wondering about the Emmys we are more familiar with, the telecast with 26 categories, which include acting, writing and directing, will air live on ABC at 8 p.m. EDT next Sunday. It’ll be the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards and Jimmy Kimmel is hosting.

As for the creative arts ceremony, there was at least one major upset of the night. It happened when actor Jeremy Davies won for his guest appearance on the gun-slinging FX series, Justified. Davies plays Dickie Bennett, who is a rival for main character, Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens, played by Timothy Olyphant. Raylan gave Dickie a permanent injury in their younger days and the two are practically mirror images of each other, one light (if not willing to bend the rules more than just a little), and the other dark. I’m a fan of the series and of Davies’s character.

Davies joked,

I have redefined the meaning of flabbergasted. [This] means that I think I’m officially getting away with my misfit self in this business. Is this actually happening? Is it too late for a recount?

Though Davies got the award for best guest on a drama, comedy series Two and a Half Men also shocked by earning a trophy. But it was guest star and long time acting talent Kathy Bates who took home the award for the CBS show. Comedies get a separate category for guest appearances. Though her series, Murphy’s Law was recently cancelled, she’s been nominated for her work there in the category of best drama actress. The results, as I mentioned, will be televised at the Primetime Emmy Award ceremony to air Sept. 23rd.

Moments I personally applaud from the creative arts list of winners are Hatfields & McCoys taking Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Miniseries or a Movie and Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Series, which went to So You Think You Can Dance. The latter is in my opinion one of the most dynamic reality show contests on the air.

Game Of Thrones Season 3 To Be “More Visual” And “Less About Clever Dialogue”

Screenwriter Vanessa Taylor, who will be working on the upcoming third season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” spoke a bit about what fans can expect from the new season.

Season 3, based on the first half of A Storm of Swords features lots of new cast members as well as new settings for several of the characters.

Taylor explained what she’s learning from head writers D.B Weiss and David Benioff on the show and what the third season will be like.

I’ve actually been learning a particular lesson this season. My bosses [Weiss and Benioff] seem to be becoming more visual storytellers. All of the episodes of the third season seem to open with a particularly cinematic opening. And they’re less about clever dialogue and transition and more about these huge cinematic… just the visuals of it all. And so I’m really learning a different way of writing from that. Because I think it’s quite subtle and I feel like, by contrast, the writing of the second season was a bit more conventional.

New cast members are a huge part of season 3,  and include:

  • Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane, a Wildling raider
  • Thomas Sangster as Jojen Reed and Ellie Kendrick as Meera Reed, two young Crannogman siblings, children of Howland Reed, a Stark bannerman
  • Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully, Catelyn Stark’s brother
  • Clive Russell as Brynden Tully, the “Blackfish”, Catelyn’s uncle\

  • Kerry Ingram as Shireen Baratheon, their daughter
  • Diana Rigg as Olenna (Redwyne) Tyrell, the “Queen of Thorns”, Margaery and Loras Tyrell’s grandmother
  • Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion, the leader of the “Brotherhood Without Banners”
  • Paul Kaye as Thoros of Myr, a red priest with the Brotherhood
  • Philip McGinley as Anguy, an archer with the Brotherhood
  • Mackenzie Crook as Orell the skinchanger, a Wildling
  • Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei, a Naathi servant of Daenerys Targaryen
  • Anton Lesser as Qyburn, a former maester of the Citadel
  • Iwan Rheon as the character “Boy”
  • Ciarán Hinds as Mance Rayder, the Wildling “King-Beyond-The-Wall”.
  • Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis, a Tyroshi mercenary captain
  • Jacob Anderson as Grey Worm, a eunuch soldier captain
  • Dan Hildebrand as Kraznys mo Naklaz, a wealthy slaver of the Ghiscari city of Astapor.
  • Ramon Tikaram as Prendahl ze Ghezn, a captain of a notorious company of sellswords

Other new characters will include Vargo Hoat, the leader of the mercenary group “Bloody Mummers”

Season 3 of “Game of Thrones” will premiere March 31, 2013.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Casts Daario and Greyworm

We still have a while to wait till the new season of HBO’s hit show, “Game of Thrones” returns but we at least have the joy of new casting news. HBO has announced and confirmed that English rapper Ed Skrein and UK actor Jacob Anderson have been cast as Daario Naharis and Grey Worm, respectively in the upcoming third season.

This casting announcement follows last weeks news that Rome star Ciarán Hinds was cast as self-proclaimed “King-Beyond-the-Wall” Mance Rayder.

Daario Neharis is a confident and seductive warrior and the captain of the Stormcrows a groups of mercenaries who will help Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) sail into Westeros. The role of Daario Naharis will mark the relative newcomer Skrein’s North American television debut – after the former teenage gang member became a popular UK rapper following his near stabbing death at age seventeen.

Grey Worm is the leader of the eunuch slave soldiers known as the Unsullied. Anderson may not be that well-known on this side of the pond, but the young actor from London has already appeared in numerous popular English films and TV shows such as AdulthoodEpisodes, and Skins.

Like the show’s second season, season 3 will see an large influx of new characters.

  • Diana Rigg (Emma Peel in The Avengers)  will play Olenna Redwyne Tyrell A.K.A the “Queen of Thorns,” Margaery and Loras Tyrell’s sharp-witted grandmother. Rigg will also appear in the upcoming seventh season of Doctor Who with her daughter Rachael Stirling.
  • Clive Russell (Sherlock Holmes) has been cast as Ser Brynden “The Blackfish” Tully – the beloved uncle of Catelyn Stark.
  • Tobias Menzies (Rome) as Edmure Tully, Catelyn Stark’s brother.
  • Richard Dormer (Casualty) as Beric Dondarrion, the leader of the “Brotherhood Without Banners.”
  • Thomas Sangster (Phineas and Ferb) and Ellie Kendrick (Being Human UK) will play Jojen Reed and Meera Reed, two young Crannogman siblings and children of Howland Reed, a Stark bannerman.
  • Tara Fitzgerald (Waking the Dead) cast as Selyse Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon’s wife (the character, played by an unnamed extra in one episode last season).
  • Kerry Ingram as Shireen Baratheon, Stannis’ young daughter.
  • Paul Kaye (Being Human UK) will play Thoros of Myr, a red priest who follows the same religion as Melisandre.
  • Mackenzie Crook (The Office UK, Pirates of the Caribbean) will play Orell the skinchanger, a fearsome Wildling.

Production of the third season began last month on location in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and will feature the new filming locations Croatia and Morocco.

The upcoming third season of HBO’s Game of Thrones will return April 2013.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Casts Mance Rayder

Fans have been waiting on bated breath for news on who would play the pivotal role of Mance Rayder in season 3 of HBO’s hit series,” Game of Thrones.” And finally our wishes are granted with the news that Ciarán Hinds has been offered the role.

The actor who is most known for his role on “Rome” will be playing a key role in the show and lives of it’s characters. Mance Rayder is a Wildling Leader known as The King Beyond The Wall. He has united much of the wildling clans and has one mission in mind: To Attack The Wall.

Up until now he has been frequently referred to but remained unseen. His first appearance was in the third book, A Storm of Swords, a part of the series written by genius George R.R. Martin.

Fan favorite character Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, was captured to be taken to Mance at the end of the second series. His role in the wildling society is about to get more complicated.

Hinds is no stranger to the climate of the show. He is a native of belfast where the show’s primary production is based (Thrones S3 is also shooting in Croatia, Iceland and Morocco). He’s appeared in films such as MunichTinker Tailor Soldier Spy and John Carter. But TV fans know him best from Rome, where he was a very imposing Julius Caesar. He recently also had an arc on USA’s Political Animals.

Game of Thrones returns March 31. (And yes I know that is far to long, but we will make do right fans?)

Game of Thrones and True Blood Aren’t Going Anywhere

HBO easily has two of the most popular series around. “Game of Thrones” continues to be a top performer along side their other series “True Blood.” But many wonder what future do these shows have? Thankfully, HBO executives recently sat down to answer questions while sounding off about the futures of the mega popular shows they air.

Richard Plepler and Michael Lombardo talked about where they see the two hit shows going in the future.

“Game of Thrones,” based off the book series written by George R.R. Martin, is about to enter its third season which will be based on the first half of the third novel, “A Storm of Swords.” The show’s future, however, is largely dependent on the novels.

Plepler offered a conforting statement for those who worry the series will end before the books do.

“As long as he keeps writing we’ll keep producing, and he seems excited with that prospect.”

The novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, has two novels left still to be written by Martin, however, in case something should happen, the producers of the HBO series, know how it is going to end. This also means they wrote make any major changes to the plot either.

“True Blood,” based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, is halfway through its fifth season. Plepler and Lombardo seem confident that the series will continue on despite showrunner, Alan Ball, stepping down.

This coming year Alan Ball is taking a little bit of a step back, but I think creatively, they’re still engaged and excited by the storytelling,” Lombardo explains. “As long as it continues to be performing with the consumer, but more importantly exciting the storytellers, I think we’re there.”

HBO definitely seems to know where their money is coming from. Now, if only they would allow an online subscription…

Snow Patrol Frontman To Appear In Game Of Thrones

Gary Lightbody, the frontman for popular band Snow Patrol, has revealed he will appear in a future episode of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

The singer posted a picture of himself in costume after filming his scene for the series. He also said this about his role,

So I did my scene this morning for Game Of Thrones. I looked like this. Can’t say much just it’s no pivotal role. Fun!

Lightbody didn’t say who he would be playing or whether or not he would be interacting with any of shows leads.

Season 3 of “Game of Thrones” will premiere on March 31, 2013. You can see a list of new cast members here.

Three Popular Shows Have Three Terrible Television Mothers

Anyone who reads any kind of entertainment news, or really ever turns on a television, knows that HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” “True Blood,” and AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” are incredibly popular. They have dominated award shows, viewership has been through the roof, they include impressive casts, and people generally can’t stop talking about them.

All three shows house some of the worst TV mother’s. It seems each of these characters have their own self interest in mind rather than their child and continually do harm to that child whether physically or emotionally. In short, they are the worst. But we can’t blame the writing, these moms are adaptations of characters from written work, they were written to be terrible for a reason.

(It is also weird that all three characters start with the letter “L”)

So here is a countdown of the three worst television mothers.

3. Lysa Arryn/Tully (Game of Thrones)

Looking at Lysa’s character from both the TV standpoint and ASOIAF, it is painfully obvious for the audience and other characters that Lysa does not have her son’s best interest in mind.

She creepily continues to breastfeed her son, Robert, in a way that could be a poster for attachment parenting, though the biggest issue is her continual overprotection and isolationism of the son. She also denies the boy almost nothing, giving in to his whims, basically teaching him nothing of the real world outside the Vale.

Her mental instability and paranoia have resulted in her secluding herself and her son in the Eyrie.  Even though she has a chance to send Robert to be fostered else where (where he would be kept safe), she denies, keeping the weakling son in her arms and at her breast. Robert is getting no training on how to defend himself in a world where everyone dies pretty damn quickly and often.

ASOIAF Spoiler Ahead

Because of Lysa’s extreme overprotection of Robert, when she dies, he becomes also mentally unstable attempting to latch on to whatever maternal figure he can find.

Lysa is not the worst mother out there, but in the world that they live in, he needs to learn to fight, to be brave, not to rely on others to keep him safe. Sansa learned that lesson the hard way, and Robert will too.

2. Lettie Mae (True Blood)

I had reservations about putting her on this list because while she is TERRIBLE, she appears infrequently. However, last weeks episode proved just how awful Lettie Mae can be.

Mother to Tara Thornton (who is in her own right annoying), Lettie Mae has done some serious mind fucking over the years. An abusive alcoholic, Lettie Mae spent Tara’s life neglecting her, beating her, and verbally abusing her. yet she uses her bond as her mother to excersize control over Tara, such as getting her to give her money for an exorcism. While this ended up working psychologically to help Lettie Maw recover from addiction, it doesn’t save their relationship in the long run.

When Tara is distraught over the death of Eggs, Lettie Maw is more preoccupied with getting with the Reverend than helping her daughter. Tara then almost commits suicide while Lettie is failing to keep an eye on her.

After she married the Reverend, Lettie Mae disowns Tara as she is an embarrassment to the preacher’s wife (though being fucking nuts isn’t for some reason?)

Lettie Mae can be cited as one of the reasons Tara is “so screwed up” as an adult. Tara has followed in her mothers footsteps with alcoholism in the past as well as having low self esteem and being generally cold hearted and mean to those who try to get close to her. I think it is reasonable to believe that if Tara had a mother like Gran she would have turned out a little better.

Instead we have a character that hardly anyone likes and who seems to be angry all the time. UGH. Thanks a lot Lettie Mae, lets hope the Reverend doesn’t find a new younger wife and divorce you like he did his previous wife. (I also want to point out that even though she has been :saved” she still walks around and talks like she is drunk ALL THE TIME.)

1. Lori (The Walking Dead)

We all know this list isn’t complete with out Lori. There is so many reasons why we love to hate her. (Not to mention the actress, Sarah Wayne Callies, portrays the character perfectly.)

Let start with the Shane situation. Even in the post-apocalyptic world, you shouldn’t sleep with your husband’s best friend. Plenty of others are not out getting it on zombie style during the apocalypse and yet she chose to do the horizontal dance with Shane (not even Daryl c’mon hasn’t she seen Boondock Saints?) Shane becomes surrogate father for her son Carl, yet when Rick shows up, she doesn’t even want Shane around. She never considered that Carl might want/need Shane around as he had been there, bonding with him. Instead she pushes Shane away, instigating more and more animosity among the group.

And the biggest reason of all. SHE NEVER KEEPS TRACK OF CARL. What kind of mother does this? One is selfish and manipulative. She is also against her son learning vital survival skills in a world where protecting oneself is KEY. She also never really connects with her son in their trying times or listens to what he has to say. Carl is consistently getting away from the group, because lets face it he is still a KID even in the apocalyptic world, yet Lori never seems to notice and remains obvious to the location of her child.

She says she is first and foremost a mother, yet she exceedingly fails in the role.

Game of Thrones a Top Pick For Best Drama Series

HBO’s hit series, “Game of Thrones” has been added to the list of nominees for best drama series at this year’s 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Although “Mad Men” has won the award for the category four years in the row, there is a huge chance that “Game of Thrones” could take it away from the AMC series. With record viewers in it’s second series and its not sup rising renewal after just one episode, GoT has captured fans for the long haul.

The series was nominated last year as well in the same category despite the fact that academy tends to overlook shows from its genre. The medieval fantasy series, an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s series of novels “A Song of Ice and Fire,”  is known for its violence and graphic sexual content as it chronicles seven noble families as they fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros.

Many fans were left feeling jilted after the show didn’t win the award last year. Considering the fact that only two days after the first season premiere, the series was picked up for a second season. Nine days after the season 2 premiere, it was picked up for a third season. The show has consistently brought it high numbers and continues to be one of the most loved of the HBO shows.

Other nominees in the category includes “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad,” “Downton Abbey,” “Homeland,” and “Boardwalk Empire.”

The Emmys will be handed out at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Sept. 23. The show will be broadcast live coast-to-coast on ABC.
