The Walking Dead Video Game To Receive One More Season

Telltale Games has announced that The Walking Dead: The Game will receive at least one more season. The company confirmed that the first season of its episodic game based on Robert Kirkman’s hit comic series will have a retail release, and announced its plans for future series.

“Our first episodic game series based on The Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7 million episodes to consumers in just our first eight weeks with no signs of slowing down,” Steve Allison, senior vice president of marketing for Telltale, told The Verge.

Allison said Telltale will release three more episodes with Episode 3 targeted for August. He added that following the digital release of the fifth episode, the game will be coming to North American retail.

“…this will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do,” Allison said.

Gamers can look forward to yet another Walking Dead title, as Activision announced last week that it is working on its own game based on the comic series. It will be a first-person shooter set within the zombie series’ universe.

Walking Dead: Episode 3 – Long Road Ahead will be released in August.

Episode Two: Starved for Help is now available for download on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft, and on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system.

The game’s story centers around Lee Everett, a man convicted of a crime of passion, who is trying to survive in the world devastated by the undead. Players experience life-changing events, encounter new and familiar characters, and visit locations that foreshadow the ordeal of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes.

The Walking Dead offers a tailored game experience, in which player actions and decisions affect the course of the story across the entire series.

Starved for Help is the second release in a series of five episodes.

Each episode can be purchased for 400 Microsoft Points on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360, and for $4.99 per episode or as a $19.99 season pass on PlayStation Network.

First Photos Of The Prison In Walking Dead Season 3

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and AMC, two new photos have been released from the upcoming season 3 of “The Walking Dead.” We already know that season 3 is going to take place at the prison, a place they have been teasing fans about for months.

Along with the photos, showrunner Glen Mazzarra has also talked why he loves the setting of the prison so much. He stated,

I’m incredibly proud of the prison. I think our crew has done a great job. It’s a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven’t seen on any other show as far as construction. What’s important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show. It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It’s not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be.”

The third season will see the return of the main characters as well as the addition of a few new ones. The highly anticipated addition of David Morrissey who will portray The Governor, the major antagonist in the comic series and Danai Gurira will portray Michonne, the hooded figure that saves Andrea in the season two finale and one of the most loved characters from the comic book series.

“The Walking Dead” airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC and will premiere its third season this fall.

Adaptations At Comic Con 2012 – Panel Updates

Comic-Con 2012 is right around the corner and if you are planning to attend there are some definite panels you will want to visit.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “True Blood” has recently announced their panels for this year. “Game of Thrones” will be presented in the Large Hall H, a major upgrade for the series. Hall H is traditionally reserved for movies and the most popular of television series and “Game of Thrones” definitely fits the bill. The Thrones panel will take place at the San Diego fan convention on Friday, July 13.

The “True Blood” panel will be Saturday, July 14 in Ballroom 20. The ballroom where True Blood will present, seats about 4,000.

Fans will also be able to view the panel of the favorite fictional serial killer as Showtime’s “Dexter” will be a first-day panel with a Q&A session with the show’s stars, Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter (Deb). The panel is sure to be a hit given the events of the last season, and fans should know to get there early as it is sure to be packed early on.

According to Showtime, before the panel’s guests arrive, fans will be treated to a first-look at the new season of the animated webisode series Early Cuts: All in the Family – which is narrated by Hall. The animated webisode series will depict the events of Dexter’s often murky past that will reveal new information that will relevant to the upcoming season. It will also focus on Deb when she felt, even early on, that there was something dark about her brother.

Not surprisingly, “The Walking Dead” will be the largest Comic-Con panel of the year sure to amp up the anticipation of the upcoming 16-episode third season. Panelists include veteran actors Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan. Season 3 newcomers Danai Gurira (Michonne) and David Morrisey (The Governor) will also join, much to the excitement of fans. In addition, executive producers Glen Mazzara, Gale Anne Hurd, Robert Kirkman and co-executive producer and special effects make-up supervisor Greg Nicotero will round out the sizable panel, which will be held in Hall H (the convention’s largest venue) at 1:25pm on Friday, July 13. The hour-long session will be moderated by Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick.

Several movie previews are set to air at the convention including The Hobbit and Iron Man 3.

The Walking Dead’s Michonne Gets Her Own Action Figure

Fans of the comic book series know that Michonne is probably one of the most badass characters in the series and most of us can’t wait to see her in the AMC television series. Until then, we have a new action figure of the character that has been released. The action figure comes as a part of the exclusive swag that series creator Robert Kirkman will make available at his booth during Comic Con next month.

The figure comes from McFarlane Toys and is a limited edition collectible called Bloody Michonne.

The six inch figure will be selling for $25 and is fully accessorized along with 22 points of articulation. The packaging will feature new art by Charlie Adlard. It also comes with a bloody version of Michonne’s katana sword along with various implements such as her hammer, pliers, and power drill.

Michonne is played by Danai Gurira in the television series and will be a series regular beginning in the 3rd season which premieres in October.

Taking A Look Inside The Walking Dead Set: Woodbury

There are a few things we already know about the upcoming season 3 of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” We have already seen David Morrissey as the Governor of Woodbury, but we haven’t seen much of the actual set of the new season. Thankfully, a new behind-the-scenes set video along with some photos has been released to give fans an inside look at the set of Woodbury, and also the return of an old friend.

Spoilers are ahead!

In the set photos, we definitely get a good feel of how much of the season will look, at least visually. We also see what looks like the return of a character.

Michael Rooker appears in one of the photos as Merle Dixon, brother to a fan favorite zombie survivor Daryl. We hadn’t seen Merle in a while, except when he was inhabiting Daryl’s dreams. In fact, the last time we saw the real person Merle, he was handcuffed to a pipe on a roof with a zombie horde about to have dinner. While we do not know what context this character is returning in, it is safe to say that he is probably pretty pissed at Rick.

The behind-the-scenes video was filmed in Senoia, Georgia which provides the general scenery and set for season 3. You can watch the video below:

Walking Dead Fans Can Pay To Be Chased By Zombies

If you are a fan of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” or the zombie genre at all, you have probably contemplated what you would do during the impending zombie apocalypse. Would you be a scrappy fighter who kicks ass or a resourceful loner who finds a fortified perch to eek out an existance, or in the worst case: a meal for the living dead?

Well know you can find out without having to wait around for it to happen for real. Thanks to the Walking Dead Escape: San Diego, fans can find out exactly how they would handle the situation. The event is inviting up to 15,000 people to sign up for the chance to live while the zombie apocalypse begins.

The event is open to anyone 16 years or older and will begin on July 14th-16th inside Petco Park. The enticing event acts as a tie-in to the upcoming Comic-Con International.

“Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman, who will be participating in the event said,

“We wanted fans to experience — as closely as possible — the end of the world. It’s going to be a fun, messy time.”

The course for the escape was designed by Ruckus Athletics and creatively guided by Kirkman himself. It has intricate and interactive details that are true to original best-selling comic series that inspired the AMC series and is celebrating the release of its 100th issue.

Kirkman also assured that participants will not be timed, and that it is more of a “go-at-your-own-pace” type of event.

“You can run, jog, walk,” he said. “I’m probably going to crawl.”

Fans can register as a survivor or as a Walker or even as a spectator though that doesn’t seem as much fun.

Once participants reach the finish line or the “decontamination zone”, survivors will be evaluated to see if they have been infected. There will also be 15 makeup artists on site to make the Walkers as grotesque and real as possible. If you choose to be spectator, you can snap photos from the sidelines.

The event costs $70 for tickets but it seems to be worth it. At the end, all those who participated will receive an exclusive varient copy of the 100th issue which will be incredibly rare.

For more information about the event will work you can visit the event’s FAQ list. You can also see a map of the arena below:

The event, which airs one week before Comic-Con, will culminate with a Talking Dead live primetime special on July 8 at 8 p.m./9 central. The one-time-only airing of “Talking Dead,” hosted by Chris Hardwick (Nerdist), will be followed by a never-before-seen black and white version of “The Walking Dead” pilot episode at 10/9c.

This version of the pilot was created specifically for fans of Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead comic book,” according to AMC, as it holds true to the book’s black and white art style. Hardwick will introduce each episode of the marathon from the set of season three in Atlanta, so fans will be able to see some of the new sets.

With help from cast members and producers, he will set up the plot of each episode, and discuss climactic moments and characters. Each episode will close with new character and scene-specific content from the first two seasons, including behind-the-scenes footage and sit-down interviews with cast members.

During the hour-long “Talking Dead” event, shot live in Los Angeles, Hardwick will offer a look at season three, including a scene from the new season, video interviews with the cast, a tour of the new set and a look at props and wardrobes.

The show’s executive producers and celebrity fans will also be featured.

“The Walking Dead’s” involvement at Comic-Con will be discussed, as well as a look at the set-up of the show’s booth for the event.

At one point during the live show, Hardwick will provide a code to viewers, which they can use to enter The Walking Dead Watch to Win Sweepstakes. The winner will receive a trip to Atlanta and a “stagger on” role as a zombie on the show, according to AMC.

The Walking Dead video game has sold more than one million copies in its first two weeks on sale. This figure includes both Episode One and Season Pass sales for Xbox Live Arcade, PSN and PC, according to Joystiq.

It is now TellTale Games’ fastest-selling videogame to date. The video game is based on the mega-popular comic book series and AMC television series. However, instead of focuses on the character from the series’ it introduces a new character named Lee Everett, a convicted murderer who gains a chance at redemption thanks to the aftermath of the zombie outbreak.

Players of the game will, however, meet characters they may already be familiar with from the series such as Glenn. There are also characters who will live or die depending on the choices the player makes in each episode.
