7 Things To Look Forward To In Dexter Season 7

Season 7 of the massively popular Showtime series, “Dexter” will be returning on September 30th and fans are getting more excited by the day. We are less then a month away from the season opener which picks up right after the incredible season 6 cliffhanger. In case you haven’t been following the steady release of information, here are a couple of things you can expect to look forward to in the next season.

:::Spoilers Ahead Of Course:::

Deb’s cursing

Okay, this is a given. Debra curses. A lot. However, given her circumstances at the end of season 6, I think it is safe to say we will hear a lot more. Showtime revealed the first two minutes of the first episode of season 7 and I think a minute of that  is dedicated to Debra freaking the fuck out. (and rightfully so, really.) Debra has always been foul-mouthed and crass, and hey, that is what he loved about her, but this season will delve into some of the most fucked up scenarios she probably never imagined.

Season 7 picks up right where we left off in 6 with Debra walking in on Dex in his kill room, plunging the knife into Travis. You can watch the first two minutes of the episode below from the Comic-Con sneak preview.

Dexter Will Go Into Self Preservation Mode

In the past, we have seen Dexter challenged by several different people, all threatening to expose him as a monster. Doakes, Lundy, Miguel Prado, and Quinn all become incredibly close to figuring out who and what he is, yet, he is always able to thwart them using his quick thinking and law enforcement training. We know that when he backed into a corner he begins thinking and considering things he probably wouldn’t have normally, such as killing in order to keep someone quiet, or tampering with evidence to keep himself uninvolved.

Based on one of the trailers released for the new season, it seems Dexter will lie and manipulate Deb from the beginning to keep her from spreading his secret. He always said Deb was the one person he thought he might actually have human feelings for, however, in order to save himself he will have to exploit their relationship, take advantage of her and her feelings for him, to keep himself safe.

It will be interesting to see just how far he will go when forced into a corner by Debra with the overwhelming evidence.

LaGuerta Will Figure Things Out

A recent television spot for the upcoming season shows LaGuerta finding a blood slide of Dexter’s at a crime scene. She immediately recognizes it based from when Doakes was blamed for Dexter’s deeds. It appears she will be a major force alongside Debra in revealing the true Dexter to the world.

My question is this: Will she go way of the original novels? If you haven’t read them, LaGuerta is actually killed in the very first book, and would have been killed in the first season had the show stayed completely faithful (thank god it didn’t, though that is an article for another time). It seems extremely plausible that this season will see the end of LaGuerta. She is starting to find things out, she is putting pieces together from years of experience, and Dexter can’t have that can he?

Changing Relationships

This one is obvious. For 6 years now, we have seen a pretty standard relationship between Deb and Dexter. (I mean standard for them, at least.) He, always closed off and disappearing, her having failed relationships, always leaning on the brother she admired. Then season 6 happened. Deb realizes she loooooveees Dex, loves him in the ooey gooey fashion not the “you’re cool, I guess” fashion.

Up until recently, fans and the internet, were unsure of how Debra was going to handle the revelation of the finale. Would he play it off as a one time thing? Explain that he was vigilante? Would he try to kill her? Would he turn himself in? However, it seems she is not going to turn him in… yet. But it is safe to say their relationship will never be the same. They will never be together, they will never be brother/sister friends again.

Nothing will be the same for either one of them, ever again.

I think watching their relationship change will be one of the most compelling parts of the final two seasons.

Blood, lots of blood

It is Dexter, c’mon. You know there will be lots of blood.

A Season Finale Climax/Cliffhanger

It was officially announced that the show would conclude next season. The producers of the show have stated that both season 7 and 8 will serve basically as one huge conclusion. Everything will be leading up to the end.

I am imagining that the end of season 7 is going to harbor some MASSIVE cliffhanger leaving fans saying “What?!” as if we are all The Doctor finding a woman wearing a wedding dress unexpectedly in our  TARDIS. It would only make sense that the season will not end on a happy note or even a seasonally conclusive note.

New Dexter 2 Minute Teaser Trailer

A brand new full trailer for Showtime’s “Dexter” season 7 has been released and jeepers, does it look intense. The new episodes kick off on September 30th and it looks like this will be a doozy.

The tagline for the new season states, “Many have met the Dark Passenger… Few have survived. Once you’ve seen him, there’s no escape.”

This new season is picking up immediately after the shocking finale of season 6. In case you some how forgot the monumentous finale, it ends with Deb walking in right as Dexter is making his latest kill out of Travis. There was much speculation regarding what Deb’s reaction would be (aside from general knowledge that she was sure to have an expletive filled response.) Fans had wondered whether she would take him in, or help him cover it up especially with the knowledge that she is in love with him.

Well, some of these questions have been answered by this new trailer. It appears from the trailer that Deb will be helping Dexter at first until his true dark passanger is revealed at least for now. Also his blood slide is found linking him to the past murders that were previously linked to Doakes.

So what the hell will happen to Dexter? He cryptically answers “The only thing worse than not knowing what she will do, is not knowing what I will do.”

Newcomers this season include Ray Stevenson, Yvonne Strahovski and Calista Flockhart. And it is going to be a fun ride.

A Look At What We Know About Dexter Season 7

Showtime has released another preview for season seven of “Dexter,” which returns Sept. 30. The promo, titled The Last Piece, compiles clips spanning the series which could have lead Deborah to the truth about her adoptive brother.

The final scene, of course, is the end of the season six finale, in which Deb walks in on Dexter killing the season’s big baddie, Travis Marshall (Colin Hanks).

No new information is revealed in the trailer, but the Internet is abuzz with spoilers and speculation alike, so we’ve gathered the best (and most accurate) bits for you here.

At Comic-Con, Showtime treated fans to a screening of the first two minutes of season seven’s premiere.

The writers waste no time picking up exactly where they left off, as the clip opens with Deb’s obviously emotional reaction to Dexter’s fresh kill.

At this year’s Comic-Con Carpenter stated, “I think if anything it’s not that she’s shying away from the power and authority she has [as head of Miami Metro], she actually needs it,” Carpenter said. “It’s the one card she has to play and it’s also the one card that will protect and save her. At any second — if I live! — I could tell someone to put cuffs on him and I think [Dexter] knows that.”

Another announcement brought the news that season eight will the the show’s last season. Sara Colleton, executive producer for the show, told TV Guide that the decision to end the show is definite.

“We wanted to end it this year, but the network convinced us that it would be best to do it in two years.,” Colleton said. “In some ways, this is a two-season series-ender. We have worked that out and know where it’s going to end. Next year will definitely be the last year of ‘Dexter.’ Absolutely.”

Colleton also said Deb will learn everything about her brother this season. There will be no more secrets.

“Obviously this whole season we’re going to have great fun playing with every permutation that can be played between Debra and Dexter in their relationship now that this information has come out.,” she said.

In answer to the question on many fan’s minds, Colleton addressed Deb’s newly realized romantic feelings for Dexter.

“It will be explored,” she said. “It has to explored, because one doesn’t come to a realization like that and then completely change. But obviously what she learns is going to affect it, so all of the things that have been the bedrock of Deb’s life get moved around. That’s part of what we hope will be fascinating for our fans, is to watch and see how we play out all of those various interpretations.”

As for new spoilers (reader beware), Lieutenant LaGuerta finds Dexter’s blood slide forgotten at the crime scene, and immediately recognizes it from the Bay Harbor Butcher case. She sees this as a chance to clear Sergeant Doakes’ name, as the case had initially been pinned on him.

Colleton said this will begin quietly, but the clues will eventually lead back to Dexter.

Hall also commented on how Harrison will affect the new season as well as life for Deb and Dexter.

“As Harrison gets older and becomes more perceptive, it gets diecier every day. Deb now has a sense of what she’s dealing with with her brother that changes things as well,” Hall says. “He has someone who’s really encouraging him to face just what he’s trying to pull off as a parent. But Harrison is still in the picture — and very cute.”

Lastly, there are several new cast members in season six.

Ray Stevenson will play the head of a crime syndicate who owns several nightclubs in Miami. Jason Gedrick will play the U.S. manager of all of his clubs. Perhaps catching the most buzz is Yvonne Strahovski.

“She plays this woman named Hannah, who took off from this small rinky-dink Florida town and ran off with this older guy and they went on this wild killing spree,” Colleton told TV Guide. “So when they got caught, she turned state’s evidence on the boyfriend, he went to jail for life and she started a new life. Years later, she’s in her 30s and she will intersect with Dexter. I would say Hannah is a still water that runs very deep and is quite unlike any woman Dexter has ever known.”

TV Guide asked Colleton whether Dexter will die at the series’ end.

“I would never answer that question,” she said with a laugh.

You can see the new promo, titled The Last Piece, below and be sure to watch the new season on September 20th.

New Dexter Season 7 Teaser Trailer

I’ll be the first to admit that this teaser shows almost absolutely nothing. Between a few shots of Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter standing there. followed by some flashy scenes of a knife with blood on it and the symbolic dripping of blood on the detectives shield, almost nothing is revealed about the upcoming season. But it does do one thing, it is building to a new a season that promises to be even more exciting than the last few.

Warning: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen season 6.

When we last left Dexter, he was killing the Doomsday Killer in his signature way, but this time he got a little bit sloppy and Deb saw him commit the act. That alone would be earth shattering to the series dynamic between the two characters. However, this ending moments comes off the heels of Deb realizing she is IN LOVE with Dexter, and was on her way to tell him how she felt. It took her a whole season (and 20 odd years I suppose) to come to that realization only for moments later see him kill someone.

But don’t assume the jig is up for good ol’ Dexter. He may be able to get out of this one yet. Seeing as Deb doesn’t know this isn’t a one time thing, she may forgive him after all. She was able to get past her civic duty in season 5 when the revenge killers were out and about (which as we know was Dexter and Lumen.) Though I predict a season of conflicting emotions ahead for both characters.

So, while there isn’t much that we know about the upcoming season we can expect some new info being released with Comic Con around the corner and the new season getting closer everyday.

“Dexter” premieres on Showtime at 9:00pm ET/PT on September 30th and you can watch the new teaser trailer below:

Comic-Con 2012 is right around the corner and if you are planning to attend there are some definite panels you will want to visit.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “True Blood” has recently announced their panels for this year. “Game of Thrones” will be presented in the Large Hall H, a major upgrade for the series. Hall H is traditionally reserved for movies and the most popular of television series and “Game of Thrones” definitely fits the bill. The Thrones panel will take place at the San Diego fan convention on Friday, July 13.

The “True Blood” panel will be Saturday, July 14 in Ballroom 20. The ballroom where True Blood will present, seats about 4,000.

Fans will also be able to view the panel of the favorite fictional serial killer as Showtime’s “Dexter” will be a first-day panel with a Q&A session with the show’s stars, Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter (Deb). The panel is sure to be a hit given the events of the last season, and fans should know to get there early as it is sure to be packed early on.

According to Showtime, before the panel’s guests arrive, fans will be treated to a first-look at the new season of the animated webisode series Early Cuts: All in the Family – which is narrated by Hall. The animated webisode series will depict the events of Dexter’s often murky past that will reveal new information that will relevant to the upcoming season. It will also focus on Deb when she felt, even early on, that there was something dark about her brother.

Not surprisingly, “The Walking Dead” will be the largest Comic-Con panel of the year sure to amp up the anticipation of the upcoming 16-episode third season. Panelists include veteran actors Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan. Season 3 newcomers Danai Gurira (Michonne) and David Morrisey (The Governor) will also join, much to the excitement of fans. In addition, executive producers Glen Mazzara, Gale Anne Hurd, Robert Kirkman and co-executive producer and special effects make-up supervisor Greg Nicotero will round out the sizable panel, which will be held in Hall H (the convention’s largest venue) at 1:25pm on Friday, July 13. The hour-long session will be moderated by Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick.

Several movie previews are set to air at the convention including The Hobbit and Iron Man 3.
